No.6 Restaurant Up The Hill — Restaurant in Patong

Overall, the food was good in terms of quality, but I’m giving this place one star due to the service. The waitress was friendly, but there were several miscommunications.

I ordered a papaya salad (which was okay), a smoothie (also okay), and for the main dish, I eventually chose the seafood stir-fry. I specifically asked for everything to be “not too spicy” — tourist spicy.

The papaya salad was fine and marked with two chilies on the bill. However, the main dish was extremely spicy and difficult to eat. I politely mentioned this to both the waitress and another staff member, explaining that I had requested “tourist spicy,” but they became defensive. One claimed I should have mentioned it earlier (which I had), and the waitress insisted that it was made with just two chilies.

I explained that I could tell what two chilies looked like, especially since the papaya salad also had two and was much milder. It was frustrating that instead of simply acknowledging the mistake, they chose to deny it.

I haven't reviewed any restaurants during my visit in phuket this April 2025 except this. But as a foodie, this restaurant deserves a 1 star overall rating. Especially because it has 4.6 rating in google but the quality is super bad.

Had a thai shrimp salad but it tastes just sweet, not a standard complex flavors.

Ordered a squid with black ink. Nothing special. The worst black ink squid i have ever had in my life.

Fried fish with garlic: really, the best among 4, but does not deserve more than good rating.

Thai basil beef. So bad! So dry! No basil smell, tasteless. I cook this dish much better honestly.

Service is ok. Staff can be more hospitable.

Price is medium, but poor quality dishes.

Vibe is ok in the night during my visit. But you have to reserve a table if you want to get a good view. Our table does not have a view of the town. It is completely blocked by trees.

I had been to the busy No.6 on the street which was great, service was fast, staff were friendly and the food was great, we decided to try the Restaurant Up The Hill, we got the shuttle bus there, ordered our food and unfortunately the service was appalling. Had to get up and interrupt staff on their phones to ask for things, we were also the only people in the restaurant. We waited 20 minutes for the shuttle to turn up, only to wait another 20 minutes for the driver to get food from inside, we again had to interrupt the staff playing on their phones to ask what was going on. If we had have known the service was so awful and the shuttle would have taken so long without any communication, we wouldn't have gone there and wasted our time and also would have just paid the $8 for a taxi back to our resort.
