Atmosphere is crap, was served cold bread, and humus was a day old (crusted over). I was only looking for a quick bite and despite my better judgement decided to still order.
The owner greeted a Turkish couple sitting in front of me with the utmost grace even bringing over rose water to wash their hands. Great service you’d think? As he crossed by me, for no apparent reason, the man mutters Kaffir..ous (or something close to it)…. Clearly not anything pleasant as he didn’t even turn around to talk (no one else sitting next to me either). As i was leaving, I made it a point to ask him what it meant… he first acts as if he doesn’t understand English and tells me to talk to the waiter, but then when I repeat the phrase with more emphasis, he all of a sudden learns English and tells me to go google it….
Here’s me using google - have a pleasant day and maybe have more respect for your patrons
Follow up to owners response: So I typically do not leave bad reviews or respond back to prior ones, but in your case, I think it’s needed as you seem to want to use pregnant women and English is not my language defense. Right…
Firstly, you agreed to muttering something to me and to telling me to go google search it afterwards. Glad that’s clear!
My question is why would you walk past someone (whose minding their own business, not said one word to you) to randomly mutter an insult at them and then when they ask about it, tell them to go google it in a dismissive manner?
You thought you were speaking to some non Muslim that wouldn’t quite catch the muttering insult, but although I may not look it, I’m actually from the same part of the world as you and your bad language was not unnoticed. I’ve got a limited but general understanding of the language.
Furthermore, this platform is to review your Food And Service, both of which were absolute rubbish as stated earlier. I encourage you to be a better person and not use abusive language in the future. Who knows the person you are insulting may understand a bit more than...
Read moreAs someone who knows Turkish cuisine very well, I was intrigued to try Topkapi Restaurant in Patong, Phuket. Overall, I’d say it’s a solid option, especially for those craving Middle Eastern or Mediterranean flavors while in Thailand.
The menu features a good variety of classic Turkish dishes, including kebabs, mezze, and traditional desserts like baklava. The flavors were authentic and satisfying, but the quality of the meat fell slightly short of what you’d expect from a top-tier Turkish establishment. While it wasn’t bad by any means, it lacked the premium texture and tenderness that elevate Turkish cuisine to the next level.
That being said, the pricing at Topkapi is extremely reasonable, making it excellent value for money. The portion sizes were generous, and the overall dining experience was enjoyable, especially considering the touristy location in Patong.
The ambiance is cozy and welcoming, and the staff are friendly and accommodating, adding to the restaurant’s charm. If you’re looking for a casual, affordable spot with authentic Turkish flavors, Topkapi is definitely worth a visit. Just don’t expect the absolute pinnacle of Turkish culinary excellence, and you won’t be...
