+1 Star for the vibe, music and the atmosphere, I had fun dancing to the songs. +1 Star for the service by the staff, they were quick to bring the drinks for us, courteous, kind and helpful. They deserve all the tips and appreciation we gave them.
But -1 star for the rude bouncers outside who barred me from entry before asking me to pay 300 Baht for a card that's not a membership card, but more of an 'entrance' ticket that None of my American friends had to pay for it. They weren't even asked for this. But why me? because I was of Indian origin, isn't it? I had 10,000 baht worth of drinks in a single night here and this is how I get treated?? Such a cheap, lowball move from the management.
-1 star again for the second time I got my ID checked when I was about to enter the club for some VIP night. I didn't even want to go here, but I had 2 Thai girls who recommended it and escorted me here at 2 Am, but VIOLA! again with the racism check. I got told that I should purchase drinks for at least 300 baht. Seriously, what is it with you guys and 300?? why the obsession for 300?? I pay bill in 1000's here, but your silly question made me leave instantly. Again, such a cheap move from your side
-1 star for the poor, biased, racist treatment of the Indian patrons. I mean its fine that you want to make money by selling drinks, but how can judge a person as a cheapskate based on their skin color, race and appearance? I was better dressed and well mannered than most of the other farangs there, yet I'm the only that appeared in your scanner? Cool,I would never even bother coming back here again in any and all of my future trips...
EDIT for the Response: You still haven't denied the racial bias against Indians....it just shows clearly from your response. Replace the word 'demographic' with 'Indians', that would be appropriate. Your staff keeps circling around with the menu, flashing it every time a table has empty glasses, so why don't you enforce the rule to everyone that they have to purchase sme sort of drink from time to time to stay in the club? if anyone tries to skip it, then tell them to leave. How hard will that be?? you've got bouncers, right?? Instead, you proceed with these silly racial profiling methods that will only alienate a certain 'demographic' and will potentially hurt your business in the long run. Eg.Me who spent 30K approx. in 3 days at your club, will no longer step foot inside your establishment, instead go to other clubs and spend my money there. That will be as much of a loss for you. Unfortunate...
Read moreYesterday I was in the club "Republic" - and it was an extremely bad experience!
First things first: I went to the club and ordered a few drinks, each of which I paid for immediately and with a generous tip.
I stayed on the ground floor, where there are many high tables. So I stood there for quite a while, and I liked it, including the music. At some point, one of the attendants came and told me in a very rude and impolite way to leave the area. I asked why I was not allowed to stand here. After all, I was a paying customer.
Then another person came along, the manager of the club, as I found out later. He was also aggressive in demeanor from the beginning. He said that you were only allowed to stay in the area with the high tables if you had rented one of these tables. All other guests could only stay one floor higher on the gallery.
I replied that no one had told me this when I entered the club. If I had known that, I could have been considerate of course. That is, I could have either reserved one of those tables or gone up one floor to the gallery.
I said that they were welcome to inform me about the rules and customs of the club, but that I would find their appearance and their address to me extremely impolite.
Thereupon the manager wearing glasses struck even more aggressive tones. He insulted me several times with the F-word and threatened me. Yes, I felt physically threatened! Needless to say, I then left because I don't want to be in such a place and to avoid any harm.
The whole thing was an extremely negative experience. The man calling himself the "manager of the club" is an aggressive boor - without any sense of politeness, respect and decency! He does not seem to be suited for this management position.
I cannot recommend anyone to visit the club "Republic"! Not...
Read morePlease don’t go here alone, lovely people everywhere but they will try to SCAM you, I was out with the boys, everyone went home, it was around 5/6am and I came to republic because I wanted to enjoy a couple more hours of music.
First thing that happen to me was … I went upstairs got my drink and went to the front was dancing having a good time alone…Suddenly I started glowing green turns out Security marked me with a powerful green lazer and I noticed he was talking to a couple girls … with in minutes I had a few girls around me asking questions and trying to charge me 3000฿ to take them home… turns out almost all the girls there are from soi 6
When it comes to the SCAMMING part which was such a huge disappointment… I ask the bar staff upstairs for cigarettes… they was smiling between each other and said it was 300฿ I said okay no problem … instead of giving it to me over the counter he walked around the bar, tried to take cash off me which was an immediate RED FLAG. So I insisted to pay with card so I can have a receipt … surprise surprise the lady at the till said it’s 220฿ and that’s with a 5% card fees … so I said no problem I’ll pay you with cash instead … I have money, money isint a problem …. I just hate the fact that they tried to take advantage of me when I was vulnerable… I don’t understand why they would try scam me for 80฿ after all I got a double Jack Daniel’s whiskey with coke, (360) and tipped them for that …
Please do not come to this place alone, come with friends look out for each other...
