Go Pong — Restaurant in Phang-nga Province

A HIDDEN GEM.

When we first walked past Go Pong both turists and a lot of locals were eating at the restaurant which is always a good sign and the restaurant really lived up to hype!

We went to Go Pong nearly everyday after discovering it. Either for a light lunch or dinner. The staff is very sweet and good at english and they were so nice to our one-year old son giving him bananas and carrying him around, thank you so much!

ALSO the food is amazing! Go Pong opened our eyes to various thai dishes that we hadnt tried before, simply by asking the staff about their favorites. Every time we were there we ordered their delicious papaya salad - and we also really enjoyed the spicy minced chicken salad and fried tamarind sauce with a side of rice. The food at Go Pong is extremely good value being both cheap and very delicious!

As a UK traveller and having visited Thailand many times, Khao Lak is new for me. Whilst it is very family orientated which is great for those with families, it has driven up the tourism and prices in the area (obviously). We wanted to try and find a traditional Thai restuarant, not a western one where food is tailored for westerners and basically is not good and bland. Thankfully, Go Pong was true traditional Thai. Ordered many Thai dishes and asked for Thai style, very hot, many chilli's. Thankfully they did exactly this! I was getting fed up with Khao Lak and the fact they cannot make Thai food, but at Go Pong they can! Proper Thai food, lots of chilli and hot, just how we like it! Even the local eat this restaurant! The shop do not look fancy but hey it taste fantastic! I saw three local or neighbouring shops go to this shop and order food while exploring. 12/10/2024 I order Larb Pork 150Baht and 1 steam rice to try and it is good, later I order an off the menu Kai Jeow 80 baht.

13/10/2024 I tried another Larb Chicken and morning glory (water spinach) and a chicken noodle soup. The noodle soup is clean and good for people who like to have a light flavour Thai style noodles. Then I ordered the beef noodle soup, the beef and soup base is strong. I ordered another pork noodle soup, the pork is so juice!

I will come back to try more dishes if I have chances to visit...
