Khao Lak Seafood Family House — Restaurant in Phang-nga Province

This was one of many restaurants on Khao Lak recommended to the 4 of us by our local holiday rep and, as we all love seafood, decided to try it. The lady (we thought, owner) was wholly unsuited to the hospitality industry and was indifferent at best and downright rude at times. They had no gin, then no vodka, then they did have vodka and then brought 2 when we only ordered one. Ordering the food was an ordeal as she rushed the order and became obviously impatient with us when we asked the size of the portions of the prawns and fish, all sold by weight. The girl assistant was absolutely delightful, helpful and such a contrast to the surly owner. The food was perfectly good but not special and the prawns at 180 baht each were expensive by Thai standards. However, the whole experience was ruined by the owner's unpleasant and aggressive attitude. Es gibt sie noch, die von Thai-Familien geführten Unterkünfte in Khao Lak. Seit vielen Jahren übernachten wir an den freien Tagen zwischen unseren Tauchtouren im Khao Lak Seafood Family House. |Die Anlage besteht aus mehreren Gebäuden in einem ruhigen tropischen Garten etwas abseits der Hauptstraße, 350 Meter nördlich vom Nang Thong Supermarket. Es gibt einfache Zimmer mit Fan und etwas größere mit Aircon, Rattan-Sitzgruppe, Kühlschrank und überdachtem Balkon bzw. Veranda. Die Preise lagen im Februar 2023 bei etwa 17 bzw. 34 EUR pro Zimmer.|Im dazugehörigen Restaurant direkt an der Hauptstraße haben wir häufig gegessen, preiswert und durchweg gut. Chai, der Inhaber, betreibt seit einiger Zeit ganz in der Nähe ein zweites Restaurant hoch am Berg mit phantastischer Aussicht. Fußläufig erreichbar sind zahlreiche weitere Restaurants, Bars, Reisebüros, Einkaufsmöglichkeiten und ATM bzw. Wechselstuben. Bis zum Strand – unserer Meinung nach hier aber nicht besonders schön – sind es 15 Minuten Fußweg.|Wir haben regelmäßig von zu Hause aus direkt bei der Chefin Rai gebucht. Trotz teilweise gestückelter Aufenthalte zwischen den Liveaboards gab es niemals ein Problem. Auch der vereinbarte Flughafentransfer hat immer bestens geklappt. Selbstverständlich werden auch Mopeds vermietet, mit denen man an die schöneren Strände etwas außerhalb fahren kann.|Wer eine kostengünstige, ruhige, saubere Unterkunft in einheimischer Hand sucht, keinen Luxus benötigt und nicht direkt am Strand wohnen muss, wird hier gut bedient sein.|Wir freuen uns, dass die Betreiber den Tsunami und Corona überstanden haben und werden bei Gelegenheit sicherlich wieder...
