Considering this is my 40th visit to Thailand over multiple towns and municipalities, my meal here at KOTI Restaurant is my absolute worst experience and even the local police is involved over a fried fish dish.
My friends and I saw that it was a fairly busy restaurant (since it’s just opposite the night market and right besides a pretty good massage parlour and decided to pop in right after an evening massage session.
After ordering with KOTI’s staff, friends and I were surprised that a 500 Baht Fried Fish that was supposed to be topped crisp garlic flakes arrived within 5 minutes. Way before all the other easily cooked dishes were served. We dug in and were dismayed that it was lukewarm and the garlic crisps were slightly soft and soggy.
Got the staff’s attention and we requested that we want a freshly fried fish and not one which was left on the side due to a possible mis-order by a previous customer. As incredibly well-travelled Singaporeans who are obviously very discerning over food, the fish was absolutely not acceptable.
They not only refused to prepare a freshly fried fish, the lady boss of KOTI Restaurant actually had the cheek to call the police to settle the issue (We presumed that they told the police they we were not going to pay for our meal; which is ludicrous)
The police arrived, mediated and I finally relented and offered to pay for the barely eaten fish as it was our 4th and last evening in Hua Hin and we really had no intention of following the Policemen back to the station.
The rest of the dishes were served and it was really just average and over priced. We understand that this is apparently a very busy restaurant in part due to it’s very visible locality. An Absolute tourist trap. Don’t be deceived by their crowd as most unsuspecting tourists usually follow the crowd.
Eat at KOTI at your own risk. We felt incredibly bitter about the experience as it was clearly an act of bully by the Boss and staff of KOTI who behaved like thugs and very arrogantly towards us. I have no intention of visiting Hua Hin again because of...

The entire place desperately needs renovation to match the expectations of modern customers. 🏚️🔧
Slow & Indifferent Service ⏳🙄 One of the biggest disappointments was the service. The staff seemed uninterested, slow, and unmotivated, almost as if they were tired of working for so many years. 😒💤 With the high number of customers, especially due to the restaurant’s prime location across from the night market, they don’t seem to feel the need to improve or provide better service.
Not Worth the Visit – Better Options Available 🚶♂️❌ While the food is good, there are many better places to eat in this area where you can enjoy both great food and excellent service. 👍🍽️ If you're just curious, you can give it a try, but don’t expect a high-quality dining experience. Personally, we don’t plan on returning.
Unpleasant Payment Policy 💳💰 Another major drawback is their unfair credit card policy. Unlike any other place in the city, they charge a commission fee for credit card payments. 🤨❌ This feels like an unnecessary extra charge that adds to the overall unpleasant experience.
Final Verdict – Think Twice Before Going 🤔⚠️ If you’re looking for a memorable dining experience, this might not be the best choice. While the food itself is good, the lack of improvement, poor service, and extra charges make it not worth the visit. There are plenty of better options in the area, so it’s best to consider other restaurants instead. 🚶♂️🍽️
Would not recommend unless they make serious...
