Me and my friend took a ride down this way from Bang Tao on our motorbikes and he had read reviews so said we need to try Cafe Baan Mai for something to eat. Well I’m so glad he did!
Absolutely amazing Thai food on offer with some speciality ‘Thai with a twist’ dishes available too. Sitting there with an ice cold mango smoothie while the fresh food was cooked I was thinking this place could be suited anywhere in the world! Such a relaxed, pretty and friendly environment.
We had spring rolls as a starter (tradition we had these everywhere we ate 🤣) and I had the Pad Thai wrapped in egg which was delicious. My mate had the beef massaman and he said it was also amazing. We sat and chatted with the super friendly and beautiful owner who clearly takes a lot of pride in her cooking and is very experienced. (We chatted so long we were almost late for dropping our motorcycles off but we didn’t want to leave 😂)
We both had to try the Coconut Creme Brulee also which didn’t disappoint!
It was just such a shame we had to leave to drop our bikes off!
If you’re anywhere near Café Baan Mai I can highly recommend it for great food and drinks at a very reasonable price, cooked and served by the most friendly and knowledgeable people!
This cafe could be 10 times the size for what’s on offer but in true Thai style it’s about taking simple and making it beautiful. Khob khun krap for the amazing food and...
Read moreWhat an AMAZING cafe. A very small and intimate experience. If I could give more than 5 stars, i would.
To start the staff are very welcoming.
The chef, who I believe is the owner, goes above and beyond with the dishes that she creates.
The food was unbelievable, I really can not describe in words how good the food was. They also have a selection of cold drinks that quenched our thirst and tantalise the taste buds.
They do a coconut creme brulee dessert, which has to be one of the best sweets i have ever tried.
This is a little diamond hiding off and away from the main Rawai beech.
If you are ever on this beach or in the area, you have to take a visit to this place.
When word gets out about how good it is here, you will not be able to get a table.
Thank you so much for an amazing...
Read moreI am Thai, so I know good Thai food! - Lek is one of the best Thai chefs that I have met in a long time! Paneang curry, classic pad Thai, Mango sticky rice were awesome!! She uses riceberry in it.. my faveorite! Her love for food, and care for her customers is really special. If you are in Rawai, coming to Cafe Baan Mai is a MUST! Lek graduated from culinary school in her hometown north of Bangkok - her skills really shine. Her restaurant is super cute, Austin her server is adorable. We will definitely be back! Oh and her coconut latte is AMAZING!
