My wife and I ordered a lobster dish among other items. After we finished our food we noticed these white, curly, worm-like thing on the shell of the lobster. We asked the waiters what they were and were told they were apparently "oyster baby" which didn't make much sense. Right after they explained I Googled "lobster parasites" hoping to find something relevant but to no avail. Given that the restaurant was packed with guests (many were obviously travellers foreign to Thailand) and seemingly quite popular, and that I couldn't find anything similar on Google at all, we decided to take the restaurant's words, paid our bill and left. After we got back to our hotel I remembered a friend in Thailand and contacted him for this, he was very sure that the worm-like thingies were parasites and we should call 1155 if we felt any discomfort. As of now I've spoke to various people about this and also thought I should post this to somewhere public. If anyone would please be able to explain for certain what this stuff is (I really hope they at least are not harmful to human), it'll be much...
Read moreThe service is great, the team are friendly, helpful, and everything is served quite fast. There are options to sit nearer to the beach (on the sand, under the tree) or in their cafe. We prefer sitting in their cafe because outside didn't seem to be enjoyable (we normally would sit outside and prefer sand), by the look of it. But the staff was helpful when we were trying to choose either one.
Unfortunately, despite the service, the food was just alright. Nothing special. The price was normal for such establishments, perhaps a bit overpriced for the seafood. The rest, slightly cheaper than Pa Tong. There are western and Thai options. Vast menu they have.
To use the toilet, we had to go to the Ha Ha Ha restaurant, two establishments away. And they seem to work together, because we were presented with their menu as well. Or perhaps just for the drinks, not sure.
And if we pay by card, there's a 3% surcharge, so make sure to bring some cash. I didn't see any ATMs or money changers...
Read moreWe arrived a bit late in Phuket and happened upon a lovely beachfront seafood spot called Mama Seafood. As always, our first question was whether the food was halal—they let us know that while only the chicken was halal, they did have vegetarian options available. Even better, they were happy to adjust the dishes for us, using soy sauce instead of oyster sauce and leaving out the fish sauce when needed-perfect for a vegetarian like me!
The food arrived quickly, and the portions were generous—perfect for sharing between two people. Everything was fresh, flavourful, and served with a smile.
If you're looking for a relaxed seaside meal with flexible, friendly service, we definitely recommend...
