The Local Cafe & Restaurant Rawai is nestled in quaint Thai countryside, surrounded by prawn farms, yet is only 250 metres from the busy Rawai beachfront. Only in operation a few months it has already made a name for itself with great tasting food at amazingly low prices. And they serve excellent coffee also! We ordered two dishes, scrambled eggs on toast and a toasted sausage sandwich with fries. Eggs were seasoned lightly and were very good. The sausage was amazing, especially with the addition of tomato sauce. As is often the case in Thailand the fries were a very small portion and the toast was not toasted long enough but only a small criticism to an otherwise very enjoyable meal. The staff are friendly and welcoming and the restaurant is a very relaxing environment to enjoy a meal, small and cosy. If you are around Rawai Beach a short walk here will not go unrewarded. We had chicken cashew and tom kha, shrimps, and were delicious—especially the tom kha, which was simply outstanding.
The next day, we came back for lunch: • Ham and cheese sandwich had too much egg, which overpowered the overall taste (though some might like it). • Cordon bleu with potatoes was decent but nothing special.
