Friendliness is the be-all and end-all when it comes to 5-star service 🌟. We felt the opposite during a last-minute, evening visit to Antara Riverside, Bangkok 😕.
The ambience is of course impressive 😍, the view from the terrace is outstanding and the associated architecture and furnishings are a real feast for the eyes. I would also like to compliment you on the welcome and the way you were welcomed and seated 👏. After the two of us arrived at the restaurant, we were greeted by the waitress Lily. Lily is a cheerful woman whose big heart was already evident ❤️. Her English may not be flawless, but that didn't matter 😊.
Lily assured me that I could charge my cell phone, which was great because I was really out of battery. Afterwards, we were given a first round of nuts and olives, as well as a small butterfly drink entree, which was included in the service 🍸.
When Lily came back, I called her back to our table to take our order. Lily listened and seemed ready to do so when she was formally interrupted by another member of staff 😟. "What's your favorite drink, Lily?" I actually asked, but was nipped in the bud 🤔. "What would you like to order, sir?" was the interruptive response of the second lady, whose name I unfortunately can't remember 😐.
Still. I said: "I wanted to know what mocktails you have available?" I was then offered two options. I looked at Lily and asked, "Which would you choose, Lily?" She wasn't allowed to answer, but the answer came from the second lady. She not only interrupted Lily, but also ignored me asking Lily for her opinion as i considered it rude that she just randomly interrupted. There are better ways than that. Lily didn't serve us for the rest of the evening 🙁 and the 2nd lady served us for the rest of the evening. I also didn't feel that much of a genuine connection with this women as with Lily and we both were actually shocked by the behaviour of this - probably - manager.
Of course, I realized that the setting might be an assistant or that Lily was in training. Nevertheless, this kind of behavior is not positive for either my companion or me, and in no way reflects the way we value human interaction 🚫. A personal, friendly level is incredibly important to me, not only with the guest but also among the staff, and Lily did an incredibly great job, despite her English not being perfect 👍.
She had a smile on her face that was really genuine and showed how much heart she puts into her work 😄. We had a different feeling when it came to the second lady who took the floor from her. What a pity 😞. Basically, the place is really a place to enjoy, but with this experience it is difficult for us to spend yesterday evening, as nice as it was, in such an ambience again 🤷♂️.
Thanks Lily anyway for you and your service 👏. We know you meant well and you really put a smile on our faces and warmth in our hearts ❤️. May your path be crowned...

I would like to thank you for giving us a great dining experience today. Today is my partner’s birthday, and our first time celebrating this special occasion in Thailand and also in Anantara Riverside Terrace Restaurant.
I would like to specially thank Woon and Satein, who were our service provider served us during our dining session.
When we first stepped in, we received warmth welcome from the restaurant concierge and the team. We sat near to the river as per our request, and thank you very much for fulfilling our request!
In the beginning of our dining session, Woon had been very attentive and provide great service experience to us. In the middle of the night, it started to rain. We shifted from outdoor to the indoor, and this time Satein served us. Beyond my expectation, we were impressed by the service standard from Woon and Satein! Both of them had provided excellent customer service to us! Professional, genuine and passionate! Indeed, service from their hearts! I would said that Anantara has impressed us. Anantara is definitely equally good as other international hotel brands!
I will definitely come back again in my next visit to Thailand!

For us to pay 10k+ pp for NYE dinner just to be treated like beggar begging to just get seated is way too much. The part where we arrived early is understandable that they were not ready, but not even a decent place for us to wait - and just told us to wait in the lobby, just that. The whole chunk of guests were just flooded the lobby like a shelter place on Christmas day, like two thumbs up five star quality.
To make the matter worse, while we were waiting to be attended to, they rather took photo of themselves dressing up than taking care of guests - like is this a joke? Thought they were creative with the ‘Cirque’ theme - but in the end the theme just represent a freak show of ill-mannered staff that is just not up...
