Cafe Madrid Thai — Restaurant in Surat Thani Province

Let me tell you about the culinary plot twist of the century: deep in Thailand, on an island full of Pad Thai and papaya salad, lies a humble restaurant called Café Madrid Thai—and what do they serve? The best Italian pizza I’ve eaten in my entire life. And no, I haven't been kidnapped or brainwashed by a pizza cult. I mean it.

This place is run by a legendary father-son duo who clearly made a pact with the pizza gods. I don’t know if they kneel before their oven every morning or just whisper sweet nothings to their dough—but the result is divine. Imagine a crust so perfect it could end wars. Sauce with the kind of depth that makes you question your life choices. Cheese? Stretchy enough to double as a bungee cord.

Pizza was OK, very close to the Italian style and I would even give 5 stars if not the disaster with the marinated half chicken dish.

It was extremely salty, had too much garlic (I love garlic, but this was just killing all flavors). Also too much rosemary and thyme! Usually for barbecue you put the complete sprigs of rosemary and thyme and pressed garlic in the marinade just to give flavor and ad them to the grill, but would never make them very small and cover the meat, because the result would be just bitter. I bought some garlic bread for 100 baht (which is already expensive) with mozarella (40 supplement). For that price I got two small pieces of bread. that's a theft. In the other italian restaurant, 20m from there (La Capannina), I got 5 beautiful pieces of bread with Mozzarella for a little premium, it was worth it.
