This is my go to place to eat since arriving in Thailand on the island.
I’ve visited Sala Thai restaurant at least 200 times now, believing it’s essential to sample a place on various days to truly grasp the essence of its offerings. I have never seen consistency in a restaurant, such as Salathai. it is easy to see why this long-standing establishment, a staple since the 90’s, remains one of the busiest spots on Lamai’s strip. Its bustling nature initially drew me in, signaling a promise of fresh and flavorful food, and value is amazing.
Tonight’s visit painted the same picture. I decided to try the salmon steak, accompanied by butter rice with peas and carrots, and a medley of broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, and snow peas. The dish was elevated by a white wine cream sauce that was rich and layered in flavor. The salmon was perfectly cooked, flaking beautifully with each forkful, and the vegetables were undeniably fresh, maintaining a delightful snap.
I paired my meal with a Long-Island-iced tea, choosing Lipton over the house option. I order this frequently, and I must say, they prepared it exceptionally well.
For those who appreciate a vibrant street view, securing a table at the front offers a perfect vantage point to soak in the local beauty.
This evening’s meal redeemed Sala Thai for me, and I genuinely enjoyed my food. Consistency is key in my dining experiences, and Sala Thai has shown potential. I look forward to my next visit and will update my review accordingly.
Sala Thai has once again proven why it’s a beloved spot on Lamai. Until next time. Again, this place gets really busy around 7 PM, so you should be aware that this can delay getting...
Read moreBest value for money and delicious curries! The service can’t be faulted with the friendly, professional and prompt service/quick meals. My fam and I stayed in Lamai for 3 weeks and came back numerous times. As a Melbournian, we are always spoilt with great food (including Thai) however, the best curries I’ve ever eaten are here. I can personally recommend the green curry, massaman, panang (and hot chips). I will go as far to say it’s a must visit when in Lamai, even just for the curry. Is it possible to get a bad Thai curry in Thailand? Yes (I’ve experienced a couple). Is it possible to get a bad Thai curry at Salathai? I wouldn’t know, because I’ve eaten here about 6x and every time the curries have been bangin’! So flavoursome in the thick gravy, the portion sizes are generous. I will miss this place when I return home. Pictured: massaman and green curry, made vegan with tofu...
Read moreBest food, best service, most reasonable price in Samui. We went 2 nites for dinner, food were excellent we tried 2 curry dishes, fried fish, grilled prawns and veg dishes. They use extremely fresh ingredients, all their staffs were well trained and very attentive, there is always a manager on duty to make sure the service goes well. Hope to come back next visit to Koh Samui. One suggestion; smoking either shouldn't be allowed (especially dinner time when the restaurant is usually full) or smoking area need to be well blown away by fan. I understand it's hard on the island to have any restrictions but some customers have no etiquette or be discreet enough not to smoke while everyone else are having their meal. Other than that we enjoyed all dishes and atmosphere at SalaThai the most amoung all 4-5 restaurants we've tried...
