This was by far the best food and restaurant experience we had in our 25-day vacation in Thailand. Before eating here, I thought I don’t like thai food. What a joke! No one in Krabi, Phuket, Bangkok, Koh tao, or Khao Sok even came close to mama thai. This is a small, family-ran restaurant. You get to interact with the whole family and they are all incredibly warm and welcoming. This is where I truly understood why everyone says that the thai people are one of the most friendly people on earth. The cooking happens right next to you and each dish is cooked one at a time. This doesn’t come with a long wait though. We ate here many times and we always found ourselves already eating after 20 minutes only. It felt like my own mother was cooking for me, every single time. You can feel the passion and the love that goes into making the food. And all that, at incredibly low prices, so make sure to tip generously!
Thank you mama thai for having us and taking such good care of us. You are for us a model of hard-work and love. You are the one that made our stay in Thailand...
Read moreOur favorite little restaurant on the island, we have been here many times and usually dine here at least twice during a week‘s stay. The green curry is some of the best that I have enjoyed in this country. They make a darn good Massaman. The fried pork with holy basil (pad krapow) is also terrific, as is the Pad Thai. They have a wide variety of fruit shakes, which means fruit blended with crushed ice and a little sugar. Also, the Thai milk tea is very tasty. For dessert, if you have room, the mango with sticky rice is delicious. The only reason for less than a perfect score on atmosphere is that it does sit right on the main ring road, albeit at the far end of the island. Traffic can be noisy. Otherwise, the place is quaint and literally homey, as it is attached to their house. If you are lucky, you will see mama, and can tell her aroy makmak, which means very delicious. We will be back...
