Great place to have dimsum! Really good and cheap! Restaurant owner and staff were super friendly and kind, easy to converse with as well. We asked the owner for his recommendations, and he kindly explained and showed us what he thinks we would enjoy. You order at the front with all the dimsum showing (as seen on the photo) and then they will sit you down at a table and serve all your orders. There’s complimentary hot tea (you can refill for free) and they also sell a few different hot and cold drinks (Thai milk tea, black tea, etc.)
You can always ask for more dimsum and sometimes their new batch of something new would come out and they will go around asking every table if they’d want one. The owner would also explain what these were to us, and we can say yes or no if we wanted some.
Things to know before going! • it was a little tricky to find, but follow the map and find it on a side street behind another store. • It’s hot inside! Not a lot of ventilation, so be prepared with a handkerchief, fans, or anything that helps you cool down! I was personally fine with it, but my other companions not so much. This doesn’t take away from the experience at all though and was really bearable. Just something to note for others.
This is more like a breakfast place for the locals, and you can see a lot of people coming and going. It was pretty easy to get a table, no waiting at all. We arrived around 8:50am, left around 9:30am. They even gave us a free ice bag for our water, as they saw us trying to cool down with something cold. Very kind staff and wonderful food! Milk tea was great hot too! For everything we ordered, it was...
Read moreIt’s a common knowledge that locals in Phuket like to have dim sum for breakfast, and there’s no better place to witness the dim sum breakfast in Phuket other than Boonrat Dim Sum! They only open in the morning and you have to wait among the crowds in front of the shop for a table. The wait shouldn’t be long as the queue moves very fast. Before you’re seated, you’ll get to choose what you want for breakfast by pointing at the items in the front. Once you’re seated, food will be served to you. It’s a straightforward, no-frills dining experience but it’s very much worth the price. The food itself is very, very delicious. There’s no wonder why there’s a queue out from everyday!
This is definitely a local dining experiences any foodies need to try. I’d definitely come here again next time I...
Read moreAnother hidden gem found! It’s a dim sum place frequented by locals. None of the staff could speak English but they were still super friendly. We could just order easily from the pictures or just point to the food trays we want from their gigantic steamer in front of the stall.
We ordered a whole lot of food and particularly love the Bak Kut teh (more herbal version rather than the peppery type), pork porridge and chicken feet.
Price was definitely cheap for the quality of food. They have their own twist and flavour of dim sum so it would be unfair to compare to Hong Kong dim sum. So with their own flavour and version of each dish, it was a great experience and place to visit to...
