Northeastern Thai — Restaurant in Thanon Phaya Thai Subdistrict

We ordered Grilled beef but the waiter served us a dish looks like pork meat. I immediately told the staff I didn’t order this and he said this was beef that I ordered. We tried that but it definitely not beef, so we asked two others waitress if they served us the wrong dish. They checked with their palm to see our orders and she agreed we ordered beef. She pointed to the dish of pork and told me that was beef. That’s ridiculous!! When we asked the waitress to cancel the dish since they didn’t serve me grilled beef but pork instead. The waitress looks super annoyed and rude and spoke Thai that we can’t understand. I am so disappointed about their attitude and dishonest. And something we don’t understand is why they do this? As a tourist, I find this eatery quite delicious with good location. The staff was polite to bring us the menu and served very quickly. We choose 3 simple dishes. Fried rice, pork basil rice and morning glory (veggie). The fried rice was a little bland, but maybe jt was supposed to sprinkle fish sauce on top (what we didn’t do because of the spicy chillies in the sauce). The mince pork basil was delicious. The last one, morning glory veggie was a little too salty for us. Overall everything was good and the total was 220baht (one coke included). Seafood rice was decent — no complaints there. But I’m giving one star because of the dishonest attitude.

Ordered Tom Yum for takeaway. Price was 290 baht — same as two large portions on any delivery app. I asked specifically if the portion would be big. They said yes and made me pay upfront.

What I got was tiny — maybe a quarter of what you’d get via Grab. When I pointed it out, they insisted it was “large.” It clearly wasn’t.

I still took it, but the whole thing felt like a scam. Disappointing...
