I went to Sortrel with my boss and a couple of friends. I often find it challenging to go to a nice Thai restaurant with Western visitors and Thai friends together. You don't wanna go to a Tourist restaurant, but not to a street hawker, either. I think Sortrel is a suitable compromise. The Thai food is really creative and a bit upscale, but not touristy. I've been going to Sortrel regularly 4 years. They have a fairly good selection of foods both Thai & basic western-ish dishes. It's a place to go there after sundown as few species can handle Bangkok outdoors during the day in direct sunlight. No wonder Bangkok doesn't have a lot of places where you can enjoy being outside! The place is quite busy after 8 p.m. onwards and the atmosphere is quite nice. There is entertainment on special days would like music and just in case if can't handle the temperatures at night, then they have affection indoors and air-conditioned.
