Below expectation and quite frankly disappointing!! I have been to quite a few Nobu around the world such as Sydney, Budapest, London and Santorini. Therefore, I would say I am quite aware of the standard and the excellent dining experience that Nobu promises to deliver. The well hyped restaurant venue in Bangkok has been on the news for quite some time and the anticipation to try the food is definitely not worth the wait at all! Every dish was poorly presented, the seasoning was completely off. It seems like the chef over seasoned with acidity, every dish seems to have tasted quite sour. One of the dish we ordered was the lamp chops. One of the pieces, the bone came completely burnt. Although we couldn’t consume the bone, but shouldn’t the place focus on a little bit to its attention to detail? That shouldnt be the standard. Another dish I would like to point out is the well known miso black cod that is famous all over the world. The skin of the fish is completely burnt to the max. Completely black as a matter of fact, but the chef decided to present the fish skin side down hoping perhaps we wouldn’t notice. Well, I am a fan of having the entire portion of the food without any leftovers. Unfortunately, this was caught out by me.
When it comes to billing this was something I couldn’t accept. We paid by credit card like many others. The server took the card and proceeded with the payment table side. Then asked us if I wanted to add any tips and handed the wireless card machine over to me. Personally I find that quite offensive, after such experience in the restaurant. If your service is beyond amazing, you should have noticed our etiquette in dining and be able to point out if we enjoyed our meal or not. Not only that, you didn’t even attempt to ask us if we had a good dining experience, nothing was said during the billing apart from if I wanted to add any tips?
I have been all over Thailand, to hotel to restaurants to fine dining and casual. Not one place asked me if I wanted to tip during payment. Service charge is always probably 99% included in the billing. We spent over 12,000 with over 1000 THB in service charge and you still dare to ask me for more tips? Extra gratuities is at a discretion of myself, based on the level of service and experience. If you haven’t received extra cash from me personally, perhaps reflect on what you did wrong or what you didn’t do.
This is completely unacceptable and if this is the standard practice for the restaurant to get extra money from their customers, well I think this is far beyond ridiculous.
Seeing all the reviews online, either good or bad. I don’t see any response from the management. Which exactly exemplifies the management here in this place. I am not expecting a reply as well, but I do hope others who come here with an expectation of Nobu restaurant should think twice before coming here. Price is expected not an issue here, but your quality need to meet the price. I wonder if this place is actually managed by Nobu group or one of those franchise and managed independently…
There are plenty of rooftop venue in Bangkok if you want a nice view with decent food and excellent service. This is definitely not one of them. Well below standard and a sub-par...

Read moreWe visited Nobu Bangkok with high expectations but, unfortunately, left disappointed by the overall experience. Upon arrival, our group of four was provided with only three drinks menus and later, only three food menus. Sharing menus at a fine dining restaurant felt inadequate, especially since the menus had differing food item prices. When sparkling water was served, we requested lime, but it was not provided until we asked three times. Some items we ordered, such as unagi, never arrived, and the staff failed to repeat our order for confirmation. Additionally, sashimi was served instead of nigiri. While the staff said they would check on the mistake, there was no follow-up until we reminded them, delaying the correct dish. On top of this, sake was spilled while being poured into our glasses, and overall, the staff seemed inexperienced and inattentive.
The ambience also left much to be desired. The air conditioning was uncomfortably cold, and we noticed several other customers commenting on the low temperature. For a fine dining establishment, the recycled chopsticks provided were of noticeably poor quality, which detracted from the premium experience. We had also requested to move to the rooftop seating for dessert once a table became available. While we were told it would be possible at 9 PM, the process was disorganized. Despite noticing vacant tables on the rooftop, we had to follow up multiple times and repeatedly remind the staff that we wanted dessert and drinks served outside, rather than in the main dining area. This lack of coordination added to the overall disappointment.
Following our review, the Nobu team reached out to express their regret about our experience. However, their response felt very standard, offering a generic apology and a hope that we would return, without addressing the specific issues we faced. While their acknowledgment of the feedback was appreciated, it lacked a genuine sense of responsibility or a clear effort to...
