Restaurant Casa Lico Épicerie Pizza Traiteur — Restaurant in Tunis

When Casa lico opened two years ago, it was one of my favourite restaurants. The chef came with a lot of passion, fresh ingredients and a creative spirit. Unfortunately over the past year the quality of the food and the service have decreased significantly.

At one dinner we were left waiting for our focaccia for 30 minutes even though we had been served a burrata which we couldn’t eat without the bread. Later we ordered a pizza and the waiter brought us the wrong pizza. Rather than apologise, the waiter proceeded to argue that we were wrong and had indeed ordered a different pizza. We didn’t want to complain so we let it go but when we received the bill it was for the pizza we had said we ordered in the first place (which was also more expensive).

Not wanting to judge based on one incident, I went back again. This time we were served a flavourless pistachio pesto pasta which seemed to have omitted salt completely, and an equally flavourless eggplant. The waitress this time did kindly not charge us for the pasta, but it was a disappointing meal overall.

I no longer live in Tunisia, but I hope that Casa lico can return to its former greatness, as places that care about ingredients and creativity are...

The food and table service were generally good but I am giving this restaurant only 2 stars for ‘atmosphere’ because of the heat inside the restaurant, unless, as I discovered on leaving, you were directly under a ceiling fan! We were asked mid-meal how it was and my husband mentioned the heat and pointed to the air-conditioner which was off! He was told that ‘it is hot outside’! What a ridiculous response! This is an expensive restaurant, without alcohol, and it is not okay in Tunisia in this summer heat, not to have the entire restaurant sufficiently cool for customers. I have been living in Tunisia for the past three years and am frequently shocked by the often lackadaisical manner in which customers are treated. What should have happened was that the aircon should have been turned on immediately, or if this wasn’t possible, we were moved to a cooler part of the restaurant. Unprofessional service overall.

Found hair and some dirt on the pizza. The restaurant gets the pizza from the kitchen of another restaurant across the street and they carry the pizza uncovered while walking on the street.

Never seen carelessness in hygiene and food safety. We noticed this leaving the restaurant while they’re getting orders for other customers

All the waiter and chef did was insist that the hair came from us and not from the kitchen or street while carrying the pizza exposed and not covered. When I asked them to bring back the pizza so I can take a picture of the hair and dirt after their denial, they refused and said they already threw it while I can still see it in the kitchen😂
