The food was awesome!
I was in a rush so I dropped in the above line, so here I come with more words to describe my overall experience in my last 4 visits. I can tell for sure that their croissants are most probably the best in İstanbul, saying so after visiting Granma and Origami shops. It is well backed, well layered inside, very crusty in the outside and you can smell the butter, hats off for that 😋. They are also very pro efficient in egg cooking, you must understand that I never ever considered eating an undercooked or poached egg, ever! That day in my first visit I ordered a smoked salmon with avocado, labbneh and eggs if I remember correctly, to be honest I did not pay attention to the menu and never knew that the egg was poached, so when it came I told myself man up and to act like a baby in front of your son, so I sniffed it and it was not smelly nor eggy, hence I went on and ate it, to my dismay, I loved it. In today's trip, we went there, my wife, my son and I, we ordered the classical breakfast for 2 with an extra plain croissant and my son ordered his favorite buratta cheese with pesto drizzled with a balsamic glazing. We also ordered 2 flat white coffee and a fresh orange juice. And we also ordered an Orman meyve tart. You can choose whatever kind if egg cooking style and they will make for you, we remained with the omelette eggs. Now I wish I went with the waiter's recommendation, which was menemen. Every single item in the classical breakfast was of good quality, the pesto with orange zest was interesting. At the end I paid 270 TL for all of that. It was a good breakfast that set the mood for the whole day, we felt presently full for 8 hours, no heartburn, no upset stomach and no heavy sensations. Kruvasan Nişantaşı is highly...
Read moreKruvasan in Nişantaşı, Istanbul is an absolute gem for those seeking authentic French patisserie. The storefront is inviting with its elegant design and display of their fresh pastries. Walking into Kruvasan, you are immediately greeted by the irresistible smell of freshly baked goods. Their signature croissant, the ‘Kruvasan,’ stands out. It’s everything you’d want from a perfect croissant: the outside is beautifully golden and crispy, while the inside is light, fluffy, and buttery. The croissant has the right balance of sweetness and is just the perfect companion to their well-brewed coffee. The baristas are knowledgeable and friendly, making the perfect cup every time. The service at Kruvasan is commendable as well. The staff is always warm, welcoming, and ready to offer suggestions based on your preferences. This adds to the overall exceptional dining experience. In addition, they have a range of other pastries and desserts that are equally delectable. Whether it’s the pain au chocolat, fruit tarts, or almond croissants, every pastry is a masterpiece of culinary art. Despite being located in the bustling neighborhood of Nişantaşı, Kruvasan offers a calm and relaxed ambiance, perfect for enjoying your morning coffee or catching up with friends in the afternoon. Read moreA brief car ride from Taksim where I stayed. It was bustling with people at 11am when we arrived. We only felt like sweets so ordered 3 croissants to share, and 2 coffees. I wish they had labelled their croissants as we couldn’t tell what was in each of them. My partner does not enjoy fruit so we looked for some without any fruit. We asked someone who worked at the place for some assistance. Based on looks of the croissant and the recommendation, we ended up picking the almond one, the hazelnut one, and unknowingly, the banana-chocolate one. Of all three, the almond and hazelnut were our favourite obviously. Hazelnut had a loooot of hazelnut creme in it which was overbearing by the end of it, but flavours were good. The banana-choc was a bit rich and it was a bit of a let down given we didn’t want any fruit in the croissant. It didn’t ruin our meal or anything - it was just a discussion probably lost in translation. Either way, all three were very fresh - had perfect crunch and flakiness.
Coffee was also fantastic - we had cappuccino’s. Bean tasted smooth but strong. Just the way we like it coming from Melbourne!
Tables are a bit close together but otherwise fine - they have both indoor and outdoor seating. Outdoor was under shade.
Service was pretty good - we arrived and were seated pretty quickly.
Pricing was Melbourne pricing - it’s a fancy brunch place so we didn’t expect any less.
Overall it was a nice experience so would recommend to anyone craving croissants or...
