I wish I can rate this place a 4.5 in respect for the good pizza dough prepared in compliance with the Napolitan Pizza traditional style, but some the toppings were slightly compromised probably due to exchange rates, for example there is no D.O.P Parmigiano Reggiano and most importantly D.O.P Buffulo Mozzarella, a 2 key ingredients of any La Verace Pizza Napoletana (the real Naples style pizza). They are now using D.O.P Grana Padano which is a cheses similar to Parmigiano Reggiano but not the same, Parmigiano Reggiano is far more superior to it. Non the less the most important component is there, the dough which is prepared following strict steps and made with only four essential ingredients, (farina, acqua, lievito e sale) which means flour, water, yeast & salt. then cold fermented overnight for 8 to 18 hours then baked in a special Napolitan oven in a temperature over 480°C. The dough in this style of pizza accounts for 80% of its success the rest are divided in three parts between the mozzarella, tomato sauce and the rest of the toppings. And sinvce the tomato sauce is an un treated san marzano d.o.p. tomatoes and applied in the right amount, then you can add another 7% to the tomato sauce in your rating, therefore, any pizza you eat here should rate above 87% based only on the dough and tomato and it can rate higher for the rest of the ingredient. BUT, in this is a big BUT, if you add too much of toppings, then you might take away from the good effect of the dough and tomato. And this is why I was hesitant to give Nappo Pizza a 5 0ut of 5.
I wish they would go easy on the toppings, and keep it simple, to let people enjoy the true flavors the key ingredients and craftmanship required for building a true Napolitan style pizza.
My favorite is their take on the quattro formaggi pizza, then the verace which I wish they can serve it next time without the chery tomatoes on top. Their take in the pizza frutti di mare was quite busy for my taste, I could barrow my wife’s description when she said it is almost like a seafood plate on a dough, it still tasted OK but again I wish it was simpler.
Lately, they have expanded their menu since they moved to a newer & bigger branch inside the same mall -which by the way looks elegant and stylish-, but to be frank I'm only there for the pizza and nothing else, but I guess they wanted to please a wider audience.
So far, out from the rest of pizzerias in in Istanbul, I recommend Nappo Pizza without...
Read moreWe had lunch at this restaurant for the first time. As usual for Türkiye hospitality, we were received with very serious but polite staff. There was no trace of a shallow simile 😞. The dominant colour inside is black with a soft lighting that gives you sort of serenity, in particular after driving in ghe crazy traffic of the area. The menu is good, and you can have options for different tastes. We ordered one pizza and a Chikale bowl with extra sous vide chicken breast. The two dishes came at the same time, with a nice presentation. The dishes had a fantastic taste. 👌Chicken Sous Vide was perfectly done and seared. You are provided with sharp scissors to cut the pizza in pieces as you like. An interesting innovation for Türkiye restaurants. The drinks were nice but could be improved. The restaurant kitchen is open and interestingly there is no smell of cooking inside. Staff are respectful, and when we found a piece of plastic on the pizza, they did not charge us for the pizza, which was very exceptional for Türkiye. Our table had the very common problem of dancing!! A problem in the majority of restaurants. Moreover, a chip has been detached from the stone top with sharp borders that hurt your arm if you didn't notice it. Two tiny bugs disturbed us, trying to get into our nose! Hope they were not breeding in the swere. There are no toilets inside and you have to use the...
Read moreI love Nappo and I'm almost a monthly repeat customer, but sometimes they disappoint you. My usual is a salad with a pizza, and they usual ask about the order of serving. Of course I eat my salad first and then my pizza. Today they forgot to ask for the sequence of serving and I forgot to mention. They served the pizza first, refused to make amendments. By the time the salad came and I got to the pizza, the pizza was cold. I asked them to heat it and they refused. So I told them to take it away and bring a new one. When the bill came they charged me 2 pizzas. Not a way I would've treated a regular customer. Anyways I paid without saying a word and I will never go back.
REPLY: my friend did not go to the restroom, this is not true. Secondly, we didn't say "bring whatever is ready". I eat my salad first like any logical human being would do. Lastly, my cold pizza was never given back to me in a takeaway box. I simply paid for 2 pizzas and got only one. If the cold pizza was given in a box I think I wouldn't have minded taking it and half of the issue would've been solved. Anyways, despite the facts of what happened not being accurately represented here, the fact that you're offering to fix things means a lot. Hopefully I'll be back, but please train your staff to clearly ask if the customer wants the pizza before or...
