Escape Cafe — Restaurant in Beyoğlu

Warning - stay central! We wandered off the Main Street in Taksim to try and find somewhere less frantic and we had had good experience with the smaller Turkish restaurants but made a mistake here. First off food was not hot - warm at best. Secondly the staff were not that interested in any customers in the restaurant and finally they tried to pull a “tourist trap” advising the mixed grill for two people then trying to charge double (600 Lira) for a single mixed grill that was shared consisting off 2 lamb skewers, 5 pieces of chicken, 6 wings and some pieces of lamb plus some rice and bread. It was daylight robbery and we challenged them, at first they said no we had two mixed grills - what a joke. Eventually they realised that we weren’t just going to pay anything and agreed 300 Lira as per the menu. Shameful and we won’t be back and hope they don’t continue this...

¿Se piensan que los turistas somos tontos? Hemos pedido dos batidos de chocolate, señalándolo en la carta a la vez que lo decimos. Nos los trae de vainilla, no pasa nada, parece que se ha equivocado. A los pocos minutos nos saca los mismos batidos y nos pregunta si está todo bien. Le decimos que no, que otra vez son de vainilla (obvio, se los ha llevado y ha traído los mismos). Se ríen los camareros entre ellos. Nos traen por tercera vez, echa un montón de sirope de chocolate dentro del batido de vainilla y lo mezcla, así cree que nos engaña. Sabemos que no es de chocolate, es el de vainilla con mucho sirope de chocolate para disimular. Nos vuelve a preguntar si está todo bien y como no queremos problemas decimos que si. Aunque nos ha engañado o eso cree. Además, hace una apuesta sobre nosotros y los batidos con su compañero. Pues chico, que te devuelva las liras, que aunque nos los hayamos bebido no nos lo hemos creído. No volveré por el servicio y el humo. Además se ha notado que queríais que nos fuéramos al traernos rápido la factura. El local es bonito y buena música. Que os...
