Müşterek Meyhane — Restaurant in Beyoğlu

Hands down my best meal in Istanbul!! My sister and I had a reservation here and had a great time. The restaurant is located on the third floor of the building, above another restaurant but it’s very easy to get to. Although there was a little language barrier, the waiters were very kind and helpful. We didn’t really know what to do, so our waiter helped us through ordering. We picked out our Mezze from the fridge, practically ordering whatever our waiter recommended. I don’t even remember what we ate, but it was all AMAZING! We also wanted to try some Raki but we didn’t know how much to get, so he ended up just giving us a double shot on the house to try. He showed us how to mix in the water and then drink it, and although it ended up not being our most favorite drink, we drank it all in an attempt to be local! We personally filled up on mezze stuff so we didn’t make it to a second course, and the whole thing...

Amazing selection of mezze - we got the dolma (rice-stuffed peppers), the rice-stuffed vine leaves, hummus and (I think) the Ezme. The waiter spoke good English and explained every minute on the trolley that was brought out for us to choose from.

For our mains, we got the shrimp and butter and a lamb dish that was also in a hot pot. Please ask for the house "Musterek salad" to accompany your dishes - it is amazing.

One star removed because of the indoor smoking. If cigarette smoke really bothers you, I would recommend going for dinner early - e.g. 5:00 p.m.

A hidden gem in Istanbul! Hidden because you have to enter from the Address bar at the ground floor and go upstairs to access Müsterek. The restaurant has a cozy, quite informal atmosphere. In a group dinner we could choose from a big selection of delicious mezze, and bigger sharing plates. Their shepard roast is definitely a must have, together with their eggplant rolls filled with hazelnut cream. All the food was delicious, the personnel very nice, and we were very surprised to see how cheap the bill was at the end! By far the best dinner of our holiday in Turkey! Absolutely...
