Pizzeria Pidos — Restaurant in Beyoğlu

Great pizza. My last night in Istanbul and I needed something eat while packing. I walked up-hill and down-hill to this beautiful little place and ordered a pizza to go. Ali, the young man who assisted me was so courteous and sweet. Clearly, I was perspiring and he grabbed a chair and placed it under the a/c until so that I could sit and relax. We conversed through a translation app and he could not have been nicer. Later that evening, I poured myself the last of my wine and reheated the pizza and it was delicious. The pizza was awful. Just a piece of dough and some vegetables sprinkled on top of it.

Then I ordered an “Unfiltered beer” for 130 TL ($5 at the time of the review), expecting something from the tap or at least some decent German beer. And they brought me… a bottle of Tuborg. I don’t need to remind you that this is a pisswasser that usually costs less than pure water.

But the thing that set me off completely was MANDATORY 10% fee that was included in check without prior knowledge. I always thought that fee is something you give voluntarily and determine yourself.

Giving initially one price, but asking for another in the end is illegal in any civilized society. It’s just a scam.

The pizza was good: it had good amount of toppings, tasted delicious, and its portion was satisfactory. Though, I did not like how they've billed me extra 10 liras for having them add mushrooms to the pizza; as the pizzas are mostly single topping, methinks it was necessary; and to speak like a reasonable man, if you add something, you must take from the other, as the dough would only permit. It costed 70 at total with the extra. Tiramisu was also well made, yet the portion was quite small, that I think it wouldn't worth 26 liras. Excepting the prices, which I'm sure everyone would say are not too much in Istanbul, the place is good for a date, since the music also (jazz & blues)...
