I had an extremely disappointing experience at this restaurant. The staff member who attended to us was rude and unprofessional. When we sat down, instead of offering to take our order, the waiter repeatedly suggested that we go to the restaurant in the lobby, even though we were clearly in the terrace restaurant. He came by our table three times, and each time I selected something from the menu, he insisted that it would be better if we went down to the lobby instead. This was incredibly frustrating—his job is to take our order, not to push us away from the restaurant.
To make matters worse, he called over the manager and stared at us from a distance, which made the entire experience uncomfortable. I don’t understand why the reception desk at the lobby even directs guests to the terrace restaurant if they are not going to be welcomed or served properly.
It’s extremely disappointing that the staff seems uninterested in serving hotel guests and instead seems intent on driving them away. The whole situation left a very negative impression of this place. If you’re going to run a restaurant, at least ensure your staff is doing their job—taking orders and serving food—not suggesting where you should eat based on their opinion of guests.
Not the finest in Istanbul for sure!! Staff Harrasing guests staying at the hotel. Why does the reception at the lobby inform guests that they have a terrace restaurant in the first place if we are not welcomed for whatever reason? Just tell us what to order from your alacarte stupid menu. Why have the restaurant running in the first place if you are going to drive the customers away with your silly comments!! YOUR JOB IS TO TAKE MY ORDER ONLY!!!!! AND SERVE MY FOOD!!! NOT TELL ME WHAT I SHOULD EAT AND WHERE!! shame!!
I was extremely disappointed with the service and honesty of the restaurant staff, particularly the hostess. The menu is clearly divided into four categories, offering tea, coffee, snacks, drinks, and dinner. Even the receptionist in the lobby confirmed that a variety of dishes, snacks, tea, and coffee are available. However, when we arrived, the hostess insisted that they only serve alcoholic beverages or dinner—no snacks, no desserts, no coffee, no tea. This was clearly misleading, and it didn’t make sense, especially when the Turkish couple seated next to us was enjoying Turkish tea without any issue.
This raises the question: was this treatment based on us being foreign guests? It almost felt like there was an effort to push us into ordering dinner so they could get a higher payment, or to make us feel unwelcome enough to leave. To make things worse, the waiter didn’t give us the opportunity to properly order; whenever I tried to choose something from the menu, he insisted that we had to go downstairs to the lobby to get the dish. But it's on your menu! If it’s listed, I should be able to order it in the restaurant I’m seated at!
I’m left wondering whether this behavior was due to racism or a deliberate attempt to mislead and pressure guests. I’ve also heard other complaints about issues with billing, including tampering with bills and attempting to embarrass guests into paying incorrect charges. Thank you for kicking us out instead of...
Read moreReally dislike giving bad reviews online but as noone asked how the evening had been feel compelled to give honest feedback. We were staying at the CVK Bosphorus, where this restaurant is situated and THE HOTEL IS PHENOMENAL SO THIS IS NOT A CRITICISM OF THEM. We arrived on time and had to wait around 5 minutes for anyone to notice us. We were shown to our table. Now the only thing that was perfect was the. view. The view of the Bosphorus is stunning. The restaurant is split into two areas a bar disco area and the restaurant but there is only a partition between them. Unfortunately we were situated right by the partition so had competing sound systems for the entire duration. It was really uncomfortable. Maybe a table further away from the disco area would be better but the noise was jarring. There are no physical menus this does seem to be the thing in Turkey now but when you are paying top price for a meal I really prefer a physical menu. The food was adequate no more than that. I ordered crown of the sea which was described as scallop, caviar and avocado. In reality it was sushi I ate it but had I have known this o would have ordered differently. My husband orzo and tomato starter was good. The main course was for me was lamb kebab. The lamb was ok but the rice was overcooked. My husbands beef tenderloin which he'd ordered medium rare was overcooked. Desserts were disappointing it's as if they've tried too hard to cram in flavours. Most disappointing was the service. We had to ask to have water refilled and no one asked if we wanted more drinks. We had to ask twice for the bill. Really disappointed as this was a special meal for our...
Read moreWe reserved a table at the same day and shared information about celebrating a birthday there in hope it will be considered somehow, which was not. As we arrived, we were informed that we only can dine at the front view table only for 2 hours as we are not guests of the hotel and booked earlier that day. Having this experience before actually sitting down, we were already quite sensitive towards this location as we had the feeling to be treated as second class guests... The lowlight came with our waiter who was not attentionable and our empty plates and glasses from the first course were sitting in ftont of us for 45min... and only after we were searching for anybody who we can ask for the main course and another drink, thr plates got removed and within 2 min our cold main course arrived; it was already waiting for us but nobody brought it to us. Unfortunately we could see that another table at the front experienced the same but they asked to replace their cold food. By paying 11.000 lira I didn't expect to experience such service. The gentleman from the bar and the only one wearing a suite in the restaurant made it up. Anyhow, the food and...
