i only speak for my experience and nobody else's but IMHO avoid this place, the place is being run by a child in an adult body. my experience there was the worst. the place is small, closet sized, so there is no excuse to not recognize a paying customer when one walks in. but that's what happened to me. even though she wasn't really busy, the bartender still didn't greet me. so i sat there for a while before i finally asked for a menu. the bartender (wearing a shirt that said "ok, bye." on it) scowled at me and then handed me an english menu. ok cool. when i asked about the barsnacks that were on the table, again she gave me a very dirty look and pointed at one of her friends who answered my question about the bar snacks. weird. i had a question about how the liquor was made, and with that she basically let it be known that i am a massive bother to her while she is trying to socialize with her little club of buddies at the end of the bar, and pointed at another person who was working there (he was lifting and sorting inventory, he was ACTUALLY busy). he was extremely helpful and he answered my question nicely. he had to do her job for her while doing his own, poor sod. i tipped him. it bothers me that my tip will be shared with that little misanthrope who couldn't be bothered. i pounded my drink and got the ** out. i was just trying to enjoy an eveningtime nightcap at a local bar, and they made it so uncomfortable for me i couldn't even stand to be in there 15 minutes. NEVER AGAIN. if they are so misanthropic, then why are they working in a bar on the most forward facing street in all kiev, and on a weekend night at that? man, i REALLY wanted to like this place, i basically live next door and i'm here for the next 2 months, i can't afford to go to a tourist place or walk half a mile everytime i want a...
Read moreAlex is a great guy! Stumbled upon the place while visiting Kiev last April. Initially, I thought the place looked like it could be trouble, but once there, I felt very at home. Small place, maybe 6 or 7 bar stools. Very tight quarters. But that does not distract from the 5 stars, it adds to it. If you are looking for something in the middle of everything but feels like it's not this is for you. Also, I only speak English and it seems I was able to communicate enough with the locals and Alex to at least have a good time and good talk. I'll be back this May and I'm sure Alex will...
Read moreThis is a knock off of the real Pyana Vishna, but doesn't even have the benefit of lower prices. The price of the cherry liquer is noticeably higher(!!) here and without the option of cherries or warm. The bar is tiny and ugly and seems to be popular with local drunks. We saw someone get beat up right outside. Don't bother with this place, go to the real drunk cherry down...
