This used to be one of my favorite bars in Kyiv, and after 3 terrible experiences at this place it is about time to write a review. Had the absolute worst service last summer. The bartender was extremely rude, made me a cocktail he thought I would love based on our conversation, however it was too strong for me and without saying a word to him or showing any attitude I just silently passed it to my husband and started looking at the menu to chose a different one. That very moment the bartender approached me asking me “how come I didn’t like his masterpiece, and if I don’t know what I want I shouldn’t even order”. I must emphasize that I never said a word to him regarding my drink, neither have I ever asked him to take it off my tab, just gave it to my husband knowing he would like it better. For that reason I was extremely upset with the way he acted. This is definitely not the way to treat customers at a respected place, I thought Barman Dictat was. This year, we’ve decided to check out their hidden bar “ Ghost Station”. At first we were super delighted with the place and the atmosphere, our bartender seemed to be nice as well. But there are a few things that made me never want to come back and recommend everybody who wishes to visit against it. First of, it is advertised this bar has all of the alcohol you could even wish for, and surprisingly they couldn’t even make one of the classic cocktails “Aviation” due to them not having “ crème de violette ” . That is not the issue though. We were charged for the ingredients of the cocktails separately. The two cocktails I had, that were both twists on aviation ended up costing me 1000 UAH. My friend that had a Bloody Mary, also was charged for each ingredient separately. A place with such a gigantic selection of drinks don’t have buttons for classic cocktails? Seriously?! Let me clarify, I am not upset with the amount I payed, but I am upset with the Ukrainian service industry at such a supposedly well respected cocktail bar, whose employees are either rude or trying to fool people in order to either make more money under the table or get a higher tip in a result of a higher tab. Side note: our bartender gave us other people’s tab, that was a party of 6 people, who obviously had more items ordered than the two of us. I strongly advise you against going to the Barman Dictat. Luckily there are so many other bars in Kyiv with waaaaay better cocktails, atmosphere and especially service. The administration of the bar should definitely work better on the selection of...
Read moreI’ve been visiting one of the most famous and oldest establishments in Kyiv for a long time—a place that has been operating as a music bar since 1996. Located in the historic part of the city, it only grows more charming with the years. Here, you can always enjoy a wide selection of elite alcohol and signature cocktails that never fail to impress. The bar counter is a real highlight: multi-level, reaching up to the ceiling, designed in a stylish Western vibe, it sets the tone for the entire atmosphere. The staff is knowledgeable, the bartenders are friendly and always ready to help with your choice. Performances by musical bands and groups are a big reason to keep coming back—the live music here is simply outstanding. An establishment that blends history, style,...
