Hygiene issues! I would not recommend this place until the hygiene issues are resolved.
Step Coffee is one of the few places in Lviv where you can enjoy vegan/ plant based coffee, which is a huge plus for those of us with dietary preferences. The cafe has a cozy, small space, with just a couple of tables inside and a few outside. It’s a great spot for coffee, tea, cacao, and desserts, but it’s important to note that the savory snacks shown in some photos online are no longer part of their menu, as they’ve recently shifted to focusing mainly on sweets.
I’ve visited several times, and while I’ve generally enjoyed the sweets, there have been a few aspects that have made me hesitant to return. One particularly memorable experience was when a barista drew a picture of my face on my American coffee with plant based milk – such a thoughtful and creative touch!
However, there are a few hygiene-related concerns I feel should be addressed. On my first visit, I noticed a staff member with long nails. This surprised me, as I’ve worked in the food industry before, and hygiene protocols usually require that nails be kept short and clean to avoid any contamination. It was particularly noticeable when they were shredding almonds for my coffee, and I couldn’t help but wonder how hygienic this was.
A more concerning issue occurred during my recent visit. I arrived just before closing time and saw a woman with a dog inside the cafe. The dog was shaking off its fur right there in the cafe, and the staff member with the long nails was interacting with the dog and even touching the fur. After a few minutes, she washed her hands, but it seemed like a very brief wash, and I was left wondering if that was enough to remove any germs. While I love animals, I don’t think it’s appropriate to bring pets into such a small space, especially near food, and I believe proper hygiene practices should be followed when handling food after coming into contact with animals.
I really enjoy the coffee and desserts here, but I hope the owners take hygiene protocols seriously to ensure the safety and comfort of all customers. Staff should wash their hands thoroughly after interacting with pets and wear gloves when handling food. In a small space like this, it’s essential to maintain a high standard of cleanliness.
I hope Step Coffee will address these concerns because, overall, it has great potential to be a lovely spot.
Thank you for the enjoyable moments, but hygiene...
Read moreSuper delicious place! Frankly speaking one of the best vegan deserts i’ve tried and so far the best in Lviv. There is a couple of aspects for this opinion: ingredients: remember all those packaged Alpros? Not gonna find it here! All the milks are made by the staff and you’re briefed about the availably and selection. Same is applicable for all the deserts - you’ll be explained about what is inside, how it is made. Lovely! customer care: kudos to wonderful lady that helped us with the selection and her passion towards the craftsmanship. for those watching the diet - the calories are provided! Big plus! pet friendly so your pupil will not be without a water
Place is super-tiny: two tables and few chairs. If weather is nice go there, grab some sweets and find spot outside (Arsenal is near and you can have a sweet view included :))

I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of both food and drinks. The focus of the cafe is natural, refined sugar free healthy desserts and delicious vegan food. If you want to enjoy some guilt free desserts and enjoy a phenomenal atmosphere this is the place.
Seating is available both inside and a few tables outside in a cute car free square.
Most definitely you will return more than once,...
