📝 Quick breakdown of my tasty visit to Esfahan Nights.
To start with, the service is warm and attentive, and the restaurant itself is spacious, with comfortable family seating that offers a good level of privacy.
I ordered 1kg of grills and I chose Chelow Kabab, Yogurt Chicken Tikka, and Yogurt Lamb Tikka 🔥. You can either go for a mixed platter or choose your own combination based on your preference — which I really appreciated 👍🏼. The grills were outstanding — especially the Chelow Kabab: buttery, juicy, and incredibly tender. As you lift the skewer, the butter melts and glistens ✨🤤, teasing your senses before the first bite. So worth it. 5/5 🌟
I also had the lamb biryani — deeply aromatic 🌿, and the lamb was delicately soft, fresh, and slow-cooked to perfection, with no trace of gaminess whatsoever. The overall portion was big and very satisfying, and it came with generous sides — yogurt, stew, soup, and salad all included. All that for AED 55! It honestly felt like a great deal 🤩 Rating: 4.7/5
To top it off, I was offered complimentary mint tea 🍃☕️ (smooth and well-balanced), and took home a bottle of their herb-infused Laban 🥛🌿 — refreshingly light and full of character.
Huge thanks to the team 🙌🏼 for preserving the quality and flavor over the years. Still one of my go-to favorites in...
Read moreThe atmosphere is one of the most non-Western you can find in Abu Dhabi. The upstairs is for "families" only, people were sitting on carpets and eating with their hands, and the bathroom, while spotlessly clean, had neither a toilet seat nor toilet paper...
That atmosphere alone might have been enough to make the trip, but the food was also very good! The free soup that comes as soon as you arrive is actually pretty flavorful and tasty, and the salad had some nice cucumbers.
But I was there for gormeh sabzi (herb stew), one of the few non-kebabs on their menu. And it was very good. Just enough sourness to cut the fat, with a richness in the herbs that complemented the meat. The beans had just enough bite to them. I might have liked there to be a bit more texture, but I think fine-grinding the herbs is pretty traditional.
You can get sabzi with either rice or bread. I chose bread, and their bread was really delicious. I wish I hadn't been so full, so that I could've eaten more.
Why not 5 stars? Well, the gormeh sabzi was a bit on the oily side and seemed to be missing a certain bit of savoriness. And the bathroom situation...
