Horrible Experience at Cafe Bateel
I had a very disappointing experience at Cafe Bateel recently. We specifically asked for cookies to be served with our coffee instead of the usual dates. Despite the clear request, the server—Erwin—brought dates anyway. When we reminded him of our preference, he returned with just one cookie, and quite shockingly, banged it on the table in front of us. I was honestly stunned by this level of rudeness.
I later spoke to the manager, Alyyssa, who admitted that according to their SOP, two cookies should be served with two coffees. She did offer to give them to me at that point, but by then I was already humiliated and declined. Instead, I ended up buying five packs of the same cookies myself.

I ordered juice that never came yet was boldly added to the bill!!
I ordered latte coconut milk coz I’m allergic to lactose and asked twice two different staff to confirm and both confirmed it’s lactose free then I found it made with normal milk. Spent night bloated in pain
Bill came with 5 extra items we never ordered!!
Of course if we didn’t check the bill they would have taken all money in their pocket
Salad quantities was extremely small, 3 cubes avocado and old lettuce and old grated tasteless cheese for 62 dirham!!! Super expensive for no good food or service
Place was full of flies of different kinds
Service was super slow although it wasn’t busy!
Never ever again, even if they give away free food....

Food wise, my personal favorite is the açaí bowl. Also like the Levant plate, which is a mix of labneh, foul, grilled halloumi.
I m not into eggs, but my spouse likes their eggs Benedict and shakshouka
Oh - and their toasted bread and date butter is super awesome too. Perfect way to build the appetite while the dishes are being prepared!
Haven’t been here for lunch or dinner but we prefer the quiet breakfast that we can have here and will be here often in...
