Fantastic ambience with the live band and colourful interior, its unfortunate however, that the food was rather underwhelming. While the beef barbacoa tacos were generous with the filling of beef, it lacked any other nuance of flavour. The corn that tops the tacos were tough. Crispy chicken tacos were good, crispy as claimed, and topped with zesty and fresh ingredients. I would have hoped for the sour cream to be richer. Their Signature Birria Tacos were decent. Soft beef tacos dunked in a bowl of birria (meat soup). While the birria was fun to eat, it did not contribute a lot to the dish as the beef tacos already taste like beef (unsuprisingly) The Meat Lovers quesadilla was quite tasty, but also undoubtedly simple. Soft wheat torilla with beef chorizo, flank steak, and turkey ham (unecessary as it gets drowned out by beef anyways) and cheese, topped with salsa and pickled onions. The Guacamole was my favourite dish, spicy avocado paste with lime juice, chilli and coriander, served with crispy tortilla chips. The Promise to Pablo drink was ironically rather misleading. It claimed to contain pineapple juice and syrup but the drink tasted no more than a sour corona, with no hints of fruity essence or sweetness. Their Pine Colada was also quite weak, and could have certainly used more rum. I finished the meal with rice pudding, and while the flavour was good, the pudding was less homogenised than I expected. The grains of rice were whole and still decently firm, I had anticipated it to be more akin to the texture of bread pudding.
The service staff was attentive, a bit too attentive even. There were frequent visits to my table by staff who kept checking in to see if 'everything is ok', and even asking us to review the restaurant before the meal was finished. While I appreciate the sentiment, the staff were a bit too overbearing and disruptive to the meal.
All in all, the meal was fine. The portion sizes are quite small for the prices, and I left the restaurant not very sated. The mexican food, while still tasty, lack inspiration for lack of a better word. For those that appreciate simple food with fresh ingredients, this place will not disappoint. El Chapo's Tacos may not be your go-to Mexican restaurant if you are expecting Spicy food and Rich flavours.
I will note again that the ambience really is amazing, and the live band was good. Well done in...

Update ( we came back for lunch)
My boyfriend and I had the most delightful lunch experience at this restaurant. From the moment we walked in, we knew we were in for a treat. We savored the delectable shareable nachos, tantalizing chicken quesadillas, flavorful birria tacos, and mouthwatering beef asada tacos. The mains truly impressed us with their culinary craftsmanship.
The shareable nachos were loaded with the perfect blend of melted cheese and fresh toppings, creating an explosion of flavors with every bite. The chicken quesadillas were a harmonious marriage of tender chicken and gooey cheese, enveloped in a perfectly crisp tortilla. The birria tacos and beef asada tacos were nothing short of extraordinary. The birria was succulent and rich, the meat practically melting in our mouths, while the beef asada was perfectly seasoned and grilled to perfection. What elevated these dishes even further were the exquisite side sauces that accompanied them. Each sauce added its own unique twist, enhancing the overall taste experience and showcasing the chef's attention to detail.
And then, there was the Carlotta biscuit-based dessert - an absolute showstopper! It was as if our taste buds were transported to a realm of pure bliss. The combination of textures and flavors in this dessert left us utterly spellbound, and we couldn't stop raving about it even after we left.
Our unforgettable lunch experience was made even more special by our server, Jo. Their attentive and friendly demeanor added a personal touch to our meal, making us feel like valued guests. Jo's impeccable recommendations guided us through the menu, ensuring we tried the most exquisite dishes the restaurant had to offer. Their genuine enthusiasm and knowledge about the cuisine elevated our dining experience to a whole new level. We truly appreciate Jo's dedication to making our lunch exceptional, and their exceptional service was the cherry on top of an already perfect meal.
In every aspect, from the ambiance to the service to the exceptional dishes, this restaurant has undoubtedly won us over. It's a place we'll fondly remember and eagerly recommend to anyone seeking an unforgettable dining experience, whether it's for...
Read moreI recently had the unfortunate opportunity to dine at El Chapo Tacos, and I must say that my experience was nothing short of disappointing. From the moment I stepped foot into the restaurant, it became evident that both the food quality and service were far below expectations.
Let's start with the food. The dishes I ordered were an absolute letdown. Not only were they lacking in flavor, but the ingredients seemed subpar and poorly prepared. It felt as if the kitchen had no regard for the culinary standards that one would expect from a supposedly reputable establishment. The presentation was lackluster, and the overall taste was underwhelming. It was evident that little effort was put into ensuring a memorable dining experience.
To compound matters, the service was equally abysmal. The staff seemed disinterested and inattentive throughout my entire visit. Despite my best efforts to provide feedback on the poor quality of the food, it fell on deaf ears. It was disheartening to see that the management did not welcome constructive criticism or take any steps to rectify the situation. The lack of concern for customer satisfaction was palpable and left me feeling undervalued as a diner.
In summary, I strongly advise against dining at El Chapo Tacos. The poor food quality, lackluster presentation, and disinterested service create an overall disappointing experience. The fact that the restaurant does not take customer feedback seriously only exacerbates the problem. Save your time and money by exploring other dining options that prioritize quality and customer...
