Read moreWhile looking for a good bar with a high rating, I first came across Maison. At first, I thought if it was inside a hotel, I wouldn’t go, because that wasn’t really what I was looking for. We handed the car to the valet and asked if we could just take a look inside Maison before deciding, but the security didn’t allow it. They said we had to pay AED 200 per person, even if we only wanted to check the place.
So we asked around if there was another bar nearby, and someone recommended Goose. Now I’m actually very happy the security at Maison was strict, because that led us here. Our goal was really to find a bar, not a club, and this place was exactly what we were looking for.
The food tasted good, though the presentation could have been better. For the sides, I personally would have preferred more vegetables, but most of the options were different kinds of potatoes and pasta.
There are two things I’d like to suggest to the manager: Many people in Dubai live alone or have only a few friends, and sometimes those friends aren’t available to go out. Going to a bar alone can feel a bit dull, and I noticed quite a few solo guests just staring around or scrolling on their phones. Maybe the seating layout could be adjusted to create more opportunities for people to socialize and interact with each other. I felt there weren’t quite enough staff to take orders. Each time, we had to wait a while for the menu to be brought again and then wait a bit longer for the order to arrive.
Other than that, it was a very nice evening...
Read moreSad to see what happened with the customer service at Goose Pub. I invited my business partner for lunch. We didn’t make a reservation and came as regular walk-in guests. For the past two years, I’ve been a loyal customer and always spend well.
As soon as we sat down, the hostess asked us to move, saying the table was reserved. We said, “One minute” but unfortunately, there were no signs or indicators showing the table was taken. We moved to another table by ourselves, as the hostess didn’t show us where we could sit. Then again, someone came and told us we couldn’t sit there either. We were confused and asked, “Sorry, then where can we sit?” None of the tables had any signs that they were reserved.
At that point, we realized we were not welcome and decided to leave. The venue manager, Holly, then accused us of not paying the bill — even though we had paid as soon as we ordered. She behaved rudely. When we asked for her name, she ignored us. If she’s part of the staff, why doesn’t she wear a name tag?
In all the years we’ve visited Goose Pub, we have never experienced such poor service or such an attitude toward me and my business partners. What’s even more strange is that she ran outside and publicly shouted to the security that we hadn’t paid the bill — which is completely false. We are adults who have never in our lives tried to avoid paying. We respect the rules — that’s why we chose to quietly and respectfully walk away.
Five Hotel, please train your managers to treat all customers with respect. This...
