At last a typical authentic French place to shop and eat French food at in Dubai. It opened 2 m ago and it’s still going thru the final touches, and will have a roof top seating too in 1 wk, I’m told. It’s located at the intersection with Jumeira Bch Rd and the main Umm Al Shaif rd. Can’t miss it, but one going northbound needs to go further north to make a U-turn and go into a side “service” road to go into the parking area (marked entrance leading to the back area). The place is a 3-storey bldg, the ground level is a gourmet market for French delicacies. The first floor is where the restaurant is, with white, grey and indigo blue colors. Last night was Valentine’s so we went to check it out and I was not disappointed at all. The ambiance was very French with mostly classic French songs and white clad tables, candles lit and a vase with a rose on each table. The chairs were indigo blue, very tasteful. As typical, came the bread and butter first. The menu is big and has many French dishes (pictured). Whenever i see canard on the menu I order it, and theirs comes w a side from a 10-item list to choose from. We chose the mini appetizers & the salade niçoise, and for the main course we chose the saumon w half avocado & orange sauce, and the duck leg w gratin dauphinois. All was what one desires and had long awaited. There was no room for dessert, and we opted to have it at home (orange pieces w Grand Marnier, peach slices w crème de framboise. They had a set menu (pictured) put together for a couple for this occasion but since there was one main dish for both, i preferred the à la carte. The service was excellent, one thing missing is clearing the table between the courses from the crumbs with the oblong scooper (very French), and the entre met.
All in all, it was a night fitting the occasion. Well done. Hope the level stays the same...
Read moreFirst day off in Dubai – I’m here often for work, and trying new spots is my ritual. This time, I gave in to the TikTok hype and headed to Odeon Market for their Raclette Cheeseburger.
Walk in: completely empty. That was my first red flag.
The burger that once proudly boasted Wagyu, salad, and truffle mayo for AED 100 now comes at AED 140—without any of that. ❌ Just a regular beef patty ❌ No salad ❌ No truffle anything ✅ Still has the cheese pour… but that’s where the fun ends.
Taste? Honestly, like something you’d slap together at home. The onion soup? More like a mildly flavored broth pretending to be soup. Nothing rich, deep, or even remotely close to the real deal.
✨ Best part of the meal? The French fries – crispy.
My recommendation: Go to your favorite burger joint, order a decent onion soup from anywhere else, and melt your own raclette cheese from the supermarket. For less than AED 140, I promise you’ll have a better burger night.
Response:
Thank you for confirming what was already clear during my visit: cutting costs and dressing it up as “craftsmanship” seems to be your real specialty.
You talk about passion, precision, and creativity—but what I experienced was a downgraded burger missing half the ingredients listed on your own menu, sold at a 40% markup. And your “onion soup”? A barely warm broth that wouldn’t pass for soup in a college cafeteria.
Instead of addressing valid feedback, you chose to respond with passive-aggressive arrogance, as if any criticism is beneath you. That’s not hospitality. That’s ego hiding behind overpriced plates.
If you’re more focused on defending mediocrity than improving, then yes—you’re right—I won’t be coming back. Not because I “misunderstood” your purpose, but because I saw right through it.
Good luck selling supermarket-level meals at fine-dining prices to the next...
Read moreOdeon, isn’t just A French market Hall they have a very nice fine dining restaurant on the first floor and have a terrace as well. Where are you can enjoy breakfast on the weekends ( I think ) and they are open for lunch and dinner and they have a French Chef who cooks up delicious savory dishes not just sweet.
We went recently, it was night time, so the images aren’t that amazing, but I have detailed highlight on my Instagram page. It is not licensed !!! But they offfer a delectable beverage menu. I tried the espresso martini, & really enjoyed it, it’s perfect for the upcoming months, a little pick me up. Now coming down to the food, here’s all we had:-
Snails - Absolutely loved these, cooked to perfection. Goat cheese Salad - not the best I’ve had, the lettuce could be better, but the cheese was amazing. Bone Marrow - (revised portion) was delicious, and the bacon on top made it perfect.
Bavette - (revised portion) Or Flap steak comes with a side, this was cooked to our liking and enjoyed dearly. Red Mullet - (revised portion) this has fish mayo & fish soup, so unless you’ve the taste buds developed for this, I would advise to order something simpler. Ravioles de Royan ; was probably the best kind I’ve had in Dubai, would totally go back for more.
Milk Cake A La Francaise ; comes with strawberries, and this is nothing like your usually milk cake, it’s rich it’s delightful!!
La Mousse au chocolat , thé layers the textures !!!! Amazing amazing!!
So Odeon overhaul is recommended, they have oysters and other interesting things on the menu, is perfect for date night or a family day out. You can also pick up some cheese & croissants , and many other things from the...
