As a staunch advocate for vegan cuisine, I was left deeply disheartened by my recent visit to Planet Terra. The restaurant, which has inexplicably amassed an array of positive reviews, turned out to be a culinary tragedy that not only disrespected the very ethos of veganism but also displayed a shocking ignorance of basic culinary principles.
Let's start with the food, which was not just poorly executed but practically inedible. It seems that Planet Terra operates under the misconception that veganism equates to throwing random plant-based ingredients together without rhyme or reason. Each dish we ordered was an unfortunate ensemble of mismatched elements that had no business sharing the same plate. The taste was so off-putting that we could barely manage a single bite from each dish.
The menu lacked the finesse, creativity, and attention to detail that are the hallmarks of other vegan restaurants in Dubai. Comparing Planet Terra to these places is like comparing chalk to cheese; it's not even in the same league. I'm well-versed in the variety and richness that vegan cuisine can offer, and this was a disheartening deviation from the quality I've come to expect.
Then there's the issue of pricing. I am more than willing to pay a premium for high-quality, ethically sourced ingredients and skillful preparation. But Planet Terra's steep price tag was nothing short of daylight robbery, given the lackluster food served.
In summary, Planet Terra fails on every account that matters — flavor, creativity, value for money, and an understanding of veganism. The chef needs a serious reconsideration of their approach, and the restaurant itself needs a total overhaul if it hopes to stand a chance in Dubai's plant-based...

Disclaimer: I am not a vegan by any stretch of imagination. And I was not particularly excited when I learn about the nature of this new place in our neighbourhood. But I am nothing if not curious and open to new things and ideas. I convinced myself that I can survive one breakfast with “skinny low fat soypuccino and cauliflower sausage with hummus chia dip” and we went for it with our little daughters yesterday morning.
What a pleasant surprise! Starting with the smiley welcoming faces of the manager and personnel, through the lovely interior to the well-presented tasty meals! I especially enjoyed my “Avocado Bruschetta” (even without beloved mozzarella) that with a nice sweet taste of glazed onion created feeling of enjoying colourful dessert. Freshly squeezed detox juice with nice ginger spice to it just gave me the good morning kick-off I needed! Our waiter Veronica was seamlessly attending our table at the right moments and kept it always tidy (which was not always easy with two toddlers around).
Despite not being turned into vegan during this visit I found an appreciation for the items on the menu and we will be coming back to...
