Recently got to try Aberdam's offerings through the 2 vans visiting Fraserburgh. I missed the last visit so was really looking forward to this. The queuing was a little haphazard and, with the 2 vans, it was a little confusing if you ordered at one for both (you didn't). I arrived quite early at 16:25, with 2 people in the queue infront of me and I had a 45 minute wait for my food. By the time I left the queue must have been 20+ people deep (causing issues for parking and leaving) but it is a popular thing when it comes to town. The staff in the burger van could also have been a bit louder when calling out orders if I'm honest. It also created a big issue with people ordering from both vans but one order being ready about 20 minutes before then other. But everyone was in good spirits and still a good atmosphere. It may be time to start looking at a better location for it though, with a larger car park and better orginisation for the queues. (factory shop, college car park, lesuire centre, lighthouse museum etc). My food was really good and I enjoyed it a lot. My "dirty dirty pig" burger was excellent. Juicy burgers with gooey cheese and chorizo, honestly a real pleasure. But I genuinly couldn't have told you there were any crispy onions in it. I ordered the large fries with pigasus seasoning (cheese, bacon and jalapeño) and the Carolina mustard bbq sauce. The fries themselves were excellent, crispy and fresh, but I'm 100% sure they forgot the seasoning, there was no flavour or signs of it on the fries. The sauce was... OK. I expected a punch from the mustard and a tang and it was fine but didn't pack the punch I really expected. So, after the hype, it was a mixed bag. My food was still very good and I'll definately make a point of going again. Maybe a couple of things slipped a little due to the amount of people and a few wrinkles could be ironed out but it is a pop up location and it's never going to be as smooth as a service in a...
Read moreI've heard a lot about this place so had to give it a go. Ordered on their website and collected myself as didn't fancy 60-90 mins for delivery. Booked a slot for about 20 mins after booking (it was available to select, there was a time available earlier than that). Turned up at the time and realised there was a confirmation/acceptance email giving a collection time of about 15 mins after the chosen time. That time came and went, with people who ordered in person, when I arrived, being handed their food (also for take-away). Eventually I got our food about 10 minutes after the collection time they gave me. I appreciate it was a Friday night and obviously quite busy, so there's some expedition of a delay there but this was my experience. I also found it a little confusing and difficult to know how to collect or when my order was actually ready as there is no indication and bags are placed onto the counter by the person assembling them and order number not always read out. I feel like they could improve upon this in some way. The food was tasty and portion sizes were good, which you'd hope for given the price. I was a little disappointed that there weren't any chicken burger options. We ordered "Dirty Fries" so the sauce and toppings took any crispiness of the fries away but we were impressed by the quality and taste.
I'll definitely try this place again, to see if I just had a different experience to the norm and to try some...
Read moreI ordered fries with some breaded + fried chicken and buffalo sauce, my wife ordered fries with breaded + fried avocado. The staff were friendly and said it would be ten minutes. For context, when we arrived there were around 6 people waiting for food.
After 25 minutes of waiting, my wife went in and asked when our food would be ready - they apologised and said it would be 5 minutes, we said no problem and went back outside to wait.
After 43 minutes (I checked how long since I had used Apple pay) my wife complained we had to wait so long when we were told 10 minutes, and then after 25 minutes we were told it would be 5 more minutes. The guy said they have 9 orders and we can see how busy they are. When my wife said that even so, 45 minutes is unacceptable she was brushed off.
Being busy didn’t seem to be the issue as, during the wait, multiple group came, ordered, and got their food in 5/10 minutes. When the only difference between my order and the most basic thing they sell (plain chips) is a bit of chicken on top. I can’t figure out why our order took so much longer than it should have.
Between the wait and the lack of empathy we definitely won’t go back. We had come out to see the Spectra lights festival which lasts 3 hours and we spent 1/4 of that...
