Flew into Shoreham for the first time with friends after essentially having the menu sell itself very well to us. The queue to order was fairly long, and you have to pay while ordering, but that are the only main gripes. They do accept contactless payment. Remember your table number! Prices are decent for the portion sizes, which are fairly big.
The quality and appearance of the food was excellent as well. The mayonnaise in my burger was quite nice and creamy, and the little flag on top of the burger (removed from picture) was a nice touch. My friends had the "Curry of the Day", which they said tasted great, but each element of the dish was strangely separated into its own little bowl, instead of being mixed into one plate.
Staff were friendly, helpful, and attentive, and our waiter fetched us cutlery and condiments while bringing our food. Tap water is available self-serve in jugs (seen at the top-left of the picture).
As far as entertainment goes, there is a grand piano in one of the corners, which we were lucky enough to have a customer play, but I feel that may be a rare treat. If there was music playing through a PA, I couldn't hear it. The restaurant was about half-full when we arrived at midday on Saturday, but when we left an hour later, the queue for seating was out the door, so I would suggest getting in before then. Nearer to the end there were a few parental groups/crying children, and the noise levels gradually increased to the poin where we'd have to raise our voices slightly to hear each other, but it wasn't too bad. Great views of moving traffic esp. taxiing a/c as they sometimes pass right by the airside window!
Overall a 9/10, would definitely recommend to friends and family. Hope to go there again...
Read moreLove this place. I spend a lot (I mean, really. A LOT!) of time here most weeks because it’s a great place to sit outside (whenever the weather allows), watch the various aircraft coming and going and enjoy a coffee, cake, breakfast or lunch. They cater for non-dairy milk needs and have allergy info to hand. I have a number of dietary restrictions but still have plenty of choice. If I need to arrange a meeting out of office, this place is where I will hold that meeting because I know it will be reliably good! The food is always great and the portions are huge. It’s a relaxed environment with incredible views and I feel very safe with all the Covid compliant systems they have introduced and maintained. It’s fantastically well run by Paul, who is genuinely gifted and passionate about his work at every level, and the staff are always friendly, efficient, thoughtful and kind. I’ve seen a great number of interactions over the many years I’ve been coming here and am often blown away by the great care and consideration I see staff give to customers and the pride they rightly take in their work. They are responsive and will always try to sort out anything needed if something isn’t right for someone. I’ve never heard staff be unfriendly or unhelpful, even on the busiest days when Covid restrictions have left them unavoidably short-staffed or when customers are being rude. Michael goes out of his way to make sure everyone gets wonderful service and is very attentive when required - he’ll even bring you an umbrella when it rains if he has one! I always get warm and welcoming smiles and a lift in my day when I visit. So much more than your...
Read moreA lovely little cafe/restaurant housed inside the main terminal building at Shoreham Airport. I visited with my wife and daughter and had a bite to eat while my daughter had a 30 minute aerobatic flight. The lunch menu is ok, there are various options on the menu. I ordered a bog standard ham & cheese sandwich with a portion of cheesy chips. The sandwich was nice but the chios definitely stole the show! Nicely fried and covered in cheese, lovely stuff. The cafe has both inside and outside seating areas. We decided to sit outside and that's where the fun begins! So not only do you get a lovely view of the airfield, watching the aircraft go about their business but you also get a mini battle at times with the seagulls ha-ha Obviously they are opportunistic so you do have to have your wits about you otherwise you can say goodbye to your lunch. The staff and other members of the public all do their best to keep the birds away but they do have to be considered. Now I'm not saying they gang up on you and steal your lunch money, in fairness there was only about 2 birds hanging around and they didn't bother me at all, it's only like being o. The seafront with a bag of chips you just have to remember that they are there. The cafe offers a range of hot, cold and alcoholic drinks. I was pleasantly surprised at how busy it was however I did visit on a weekend so more people are usually around. I would recommend a visit especially if you are into your aviation or if you have kids who would love to see a live...
