The Beachcomber Inn — Restaurant in Arun

I wasn’t gonna leave a review but since I’m feeling so poorly after dining here I feel I need too. If you are planning on coming to Butlin’s Bognor Regis, do not go to this restaurant!! The drinks were the only decent thing, I mean it’s pretty hard to mess up a drink. However the food came out questionably quick from ordering which makes you wonder if everything is precooked… I had the chicken tikka masala which was 100% a microwave meal, you can tell by the texture of the chicken and how little seasoning the dish has, that was not a fresh curry. My other half had the burger which came with chips which in all honesty looked anaemic. The burger was pre cooked. Just all in all a really bad time there. Staff don’t seem to enjoy their jobs… no one says thank you upon leaving, no one checks back and everyone looks miserable. 2 members of staff even stuck their middle fingers up to a family who arrived at 7:10!!! Baring in mind they close at 8, shocking!! They say this is pub grub… it definitely isn’t pub grub, I work in a pub myself so I know what pub grub is. Realy slow service even when its amost empty... plenty of staff... just pottering around... waited over an hour for food then 1 meal waa missing so they had to cook it seperatly... steak was like leather... so the just cooked another steak on its own which eventually turned up on its own after everything else had been eaten... no offer of the entire meal being replaced or an apology or offer of a free drink or desert for the massive inconvenience... it was cooked perfectly 2nd time around but served on its own... knowing the rest of the meal would of been finnished by the time it was cooked... its not like it was even busy either... wayy too many staff poytering around trying to look busy n nobody prioritising cudtomer service... we had 3 drinks sitting on the bar for 15 mins while staff waited around for other tables drinks so I eventually gave up after 20 mins so I got them myself... nobody even came to appologise... absolutly disgusting management in there... the prices they charge the food should be fresh & properly cooked instead of sat waiting under heat laps for goodness...

Average what you would expect food however very poor service. After trying to order a kids meal for my fussy eating 3 year old I was told I was not allowed to substitute a carb option for a veg option. I explained I was willing to pay for this but was still told no. After having to become quite firm about this I was eventually allowed to swap. I would have expected a restaurant within Butlin’s to be more accommodating to fussy eating children. Second problem came when trying to order dessert. I was then told by the staff member that I wasn’t allowed to have the ice cream included with the kids meal as it wasn’t ordered on booking. This was only a £3 option but more a matter of principal after my earlier experience. I asked to speak to the duty manager (Ania) who just repeated what the staff member said. Never before have I had to argue over 2 scoops of ice cream. Ania is not fit to be called a manager. Disappointing last evening meal on otherwise a faultless holiday with Butlin’s.
