My partner and I used to love coming here, however since the management change things seem to have gone down hill. The menu is now incredibly limited and the kitchen still struggles to send food out on time; every time we've been here since the change there's at least a 10-15 minute wait for the other person to receive their meal. Also the kitchen aren't focused on dietary requirements as when we've needed to customise some dishes they still come out incorrect and need to be sent back, also many side dishes also come out cold. Food is usually served over or under cooked, cold and un seasoned.
I'm usually not one to complain about low quality but as the prices at The Waverly suggest that this establishment is leaning towards the higher end of restaurant food, the reality is that the dishes are very disappointing. One of the chefs came out repeatedly on our last visit to chat to the locals rather than being in the kitchen. The waiters and waitresses appear to all be very young and inexperienced, as lovely and friendly as they were we ended up with an additional £20 added to our bill for drinks we didn't order. They did remove this from our bill but it's still disappointing that this mistake was made in the first place.
Unfortunately I don't think we'll be coming back...
Read moreUnfortunately, will not be coming back here any time soon. We had great seats with a lovely view of the sea, however I just wish they had screened off more of the pub so to prevent the wind from tearing through the pub as it was unbelievably cold. Granted, the fact it was cold is not the pub's fault, but I do feel that a little bit more could have been done such as screens, patio heaters or blankets for each customer. The app was very slow and wasn't fully up to date which meant we had to order drinks through the app, but then the food separately, which is confusing. Due to how long it took to order our drinks and receive them - 30 minutes - we decided not to eat there as by then we were absolutely frozen, even with 4 layers on. The menu was quite expensive and small, not the greatest amount of choice. Worst of all, it was so rowdy and loud there with big groups of men that we couldn't even hear ourselves talking which really was the final straw. We quickly paid for our drinks and left, feeling pretty disappointed with the whole experience. Hopefully when the weather improves it will be an OK place to stop for a quick...
Read moreSo we’ve been to the Waverley a few times, today we had only hot drinks however we have had the breakfast here a couple of times. The breakfast was good value for money and was of a good standard. The USP for the Waverley is its location, positioned on the seafront of west Bognor with views of the lovely sea and weather.
We have come here a couple of times when the weather has been awful and had a lovely time in the warm watching the weather lol.
This location does get very busy at the weekends and especially during the summer months. Top! If you going to eat at the weekend I would 100% book in advance as it’s a popular place.
Some evenings they have entertainment but I’ve never been to an entertainment evening so I can’t comment.
The furnishings are all, with some lovely comfy leather sofas ideal for snuggling up on whilst drinking your coffee. Other furnishing are reasonably enough with a good selection of different seating options.
Staff seem friendly and helpful. All in all a good choice for eating of just a...
