The Deli at Aldwick — Restaurant in Arun

What a joy to find this place, and to have it just around the corner from where I was staying in Bognor. The ‘fresh out of the oven’ cheese & onion sausage roll that I purchased on a whim on a cold, wet, windy morning was so good I had to come back.

3 visits the following week for lunch; jalapeño sausage roll & salad, ‘all day breakfast’ quiche & salad, and on my last visit - the special of the day - chicken, mushroom and peppercorn pie with steamed veg (with a jalapeño sausage roll to take-away 😜).

The food feels nourishing, wholesome, tasty and definitely filling and all very reasonably priced. The pastry on the pie, quiche and sausage rolls is thin and scrummy, and importantly, LOADED with filling - and not just cheap veg padding out the pastry. Things are made on the premises.

Everyone is greeted with genuine warmth by the owner & her partner. Regulars, of which there are many, are greeted by name, but people stopping by for the first time feel very welcomed.

I wish this place was closer to me.

Food is all fresh cooked and just like home made - only better! Prices are reasonable and service is always with a smile. Very small eating area - couple of tables for 2 and about 4 for 4 people. Not much room to move, no pre-booking. It can get very busy at lunchtime with queues of customers collecting takeaways. Dog friendly. No room for babies/toddlers in pushchairs, at least not around lunchtime when it's crammed. Just the owner behind the deli counter doing all serving and cooking so you might need to wait a bit for service - but it's worth the wait!!! Daily Specials are outstanding and if you can't eat in or are too busy to cook at home - treat yourself to a takeaway. Owner is hugely experienced and knowledgeable about all dietary restrictions and caters for most....

We went in here for the first time for lunch yesterday. We had read lots of fantastic reviews, so we were really looking forward to it.

We were seen to by Emily who was very lovely, polite & friendly. The cafe looked very clean.

I had the Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon - the eggs were poached perfectly! My Dad had the veggie breakfast. Both meals were presented beautifully, everything was fresh & cooked perfectly! It was absolutely delicious - we both cleared our plates.

The sweet treats we had were very good too - a blueberry and lemon one & a Rocky Road.

Everything was very good portions & reasonably priced.
