Disappointed with the overall experience. I’m 6 months pregnant with a gluten intolerance and I called in advance to check that they cater for Gluten Free, they said yes no problem. When we got there we were only given the set lunch menus… we were there for lunch on a Friday afternoon and didn’t want a large meal. We saw on the website that they did a light lunch menu and this was what we had come for. I asked for this menu which was then given to us begrudgingly and when I asked which of the dishes could be done GF she said none and that I would have to order off the set menu which was £18.50 for a main course. At that point I was pretty miffed that I hadn’t been told that on the phone and at how unhelpful the lady was. After much deliberation about whether to just leave, I decided I would pick and choose items off the breakfast menu I knew where gluten free, so not to completely ruin our lunch out. At which point the lady then says they can do gluten free bread! So basically I could have had most of the dishes on the light lunch menu! Just spent 10 minutes getting stressed out because I didn’t really fancy eggs florentine with no bread and she Now tells me they can do that! Really felt they were desperate to get us to order off the set menu. Please don’t offer light lunches if you don’t want to serve them. And please also be transparent with people who have food intolerances, it’s always nice when staff are friendly and helpful… The food was nice in all fairness but the coffee was awful and the same lady who served us tried to charge for an extra main course at the end. All in all, not a good experience and we won’t be...
Read moreWhat an absolute treat! We went with a group to Chez Moi in Bognor Regis for a birthday celebration. We had done our research and knew that the team had trained under some of the best chefs in the world so we had high expectations - and they even managed to exceed them!
The beautiful dining room had just 5 tables making it an exclusive dining experience that was also warm and unpretentious.
The food was out of this world. After the plentiful, bouncy and warm homemade bread, I had gorgonzola with figs to start, and it was unctuous, salty and sweet. Then I had confit duck which fell off the bone, just as it should, and tarte tatin for dessert with a cheeky shot of calvados to bring the heat. Others in the party had sea bass and beef, cheese board and chocolate fondant, and raved about those dishes too.
In terms of the service, it flowed well and the staff were attentive without being intrusive. We had some children in the group and the staff went out of their way to accommodate their food preferences. They had also thoughtfully decorated the table for the birthday celebration and provided a birthday cake at the end, which was totally unexpected and so kind.
All in all, their experience shone through in all areas and we had a wonderful evening. I can't recommend Chez Moi enough and I just wish we didn't live so far away and could visit more often. We will definitely be back when we can. Thank you Michael and team for a fabulous evening that we will talk about for a long time. We wish you...
Read moreI had the best meal that I have had for a long time. But expensive. However everything was cooked perfectly. My scallops were juicy not rubbery in a sauce that perfectly complimented them not overpowered. My husband's asparagus with a warm hollandaise sauce, poached egg and parmesan flummery, new to me, was, he said, lovely. He had beef and I had lamb again perfectly cooked as we like them. With dessert one large glass and one small glass of red wine, which was too cold, and cream not Chantilly as promised on my rum Baba, which was light and rummy, we paid £156. But the meal was memorable the service friendly and relaxed with everything coming just when you wanted it. The restaurant is small but with tables not on top of each other and the decor is fun....
