I visited today with my mum and partner for a vegan Sunday dinner, and have been teetering between giving 1 or 2 stars, as I mulled on the experience on my drive home. But frankly I’m so disappointed in the experience it just doesn’t deserve 2 stars. The staff were friendly but the service really was poor. I asked for 1/2 pint of Coke, was given a pint of Diet Coke, and when I queried if it was in fact Coke, I was then told they only serve diet? My vegetarian boyfriend ordered the vegan burger and asked to swap for normal cheese and to swap out the sauce. When it arrived with thought it might’ve just been really quality vegan alternatives, but he had actually been given real meat! They returned several minutes later with a vegan burger, with vegan cheese, we didn’t feel like complaining again! The ‘bacon’ also seemed to be the ‘roulade’ just thinly sliced. Our vegan dinners were quite horrible to be honest, the only good part was the roast potatoes and the stuffing. We were unimpressed with the mushy roulade and the Yorkshire pudding was abysmal. It was cold and like no other vegan yorkie I’ve ever had before. The staff didn’t charge us for the burger in the end, due to their mistake. But I am still unhappy with the amount of money I spent on the rest of the food, since the whole experience was horrible. And I’m still hungry! We were disappointed as we’d heard good reviews about the vegan dinner and driven out specifically to have the yorkshires!

Another great evening at the Station Hotel! Mrs had the "Curry of the day", which today was Jamaican chicken. Landlord Dave informed us that he got the recipe from his friend & business partner who's Mum is from Jamaica. This was a really tasty & satisfying dish, highly recommended. Lots of beers on offer again tonight, but unfortunately my favourite 'Hood' was not available 😢, although it did come back on as I was about to leave. Credit to Jordan on the bar for his excellent service 😉 Edit: I'm not sure how my review suddenly appeared as "new" a couple of weeks ago? This review & the photos were originally posted a few years ago when Dave was the landlord (who now runs the Blackshale in Beeston). Since then, this pub went downhill in terms of food due to; in my opinion, poor management. That said, it appears to be improving again over the last few months & the beer is still great!

We went to visit friends and decided to book this hotel, as it was local. I went to check in on my own, as my husband tried to find a parking space, as there are none, he had to park on the pavement on a busy road. The entrance is through a pub, which I felf a bit uncomfortable with, as I have never seen so many dogs in a bar. After reading the information about the pub, it seems they encourage people to take their dogs there. I had to wait to be seen, as there were three men at the bar ordering drinks. But the worst was yet to come. I could not believe it when they came to show me the room. It was up two flights of stairs and the carpets were absolutely filthy. So much so, that your feet stuck to them as you walked upstairs. On first sight the room was not too bad, dated, but seemed clean enough, although I noticed he had difficulty opening the door, as it was so stiff. He gave me the key and the keyring was a cardboard beer mat. When my husband saw the place he asked a member of staff if we could get our money back, but he told us that we would need to contact the booking company. However, I had paid with my debit card at the bar directly to the hotel. So, we tried to make the best of it. The wardrope door was hanging off it's hinges. There was one socket in the room and the bathroom light and extractor were filthy. The radiator in the bathroom leaked and when we got up in the morning the bathroom floor and carpet at the door was soaked. They don't serve food and mainly have rooms with shared toilet facilities. The room we had was en suite, but wasn't cheap at 79 gbp for the night. We complained about the room to a member of staff and asked if we left would they refund our money. But he said we got up in the morning, the bathroom floor and carpet outside the door was soaked. We have stayed in many hotels. luxury and basic, but this was the worst hotel we have ever stayed in. Avoid at all cost. We'd have been more comfortable...

I really want to like this place, and it has so much potential, but it always falls short on the most basic pub/restaurant essentials & service. |On our most recent visit the place was dead. We ordered drinks at the bar and asked for a high chair, which never came and we had to go looking for one. |We ordered food at 5pm as soon as service started and our food arrived within around 15 minutes. |We then placed another order for my dad who joined us shortly afterwards. Fish and chips, in case you're interested. After waiting 30 minutes for his food I went to the bar to check on his order. The barmaid said she'd pop to the kitchen and check what was going on. She did, but didn't bother to come over and update us. So instead I asked for an update on my way to the loo, to be told she wasn't sure what had happened, but that the food shouldn't be long. Another half hour later the food still hadn't arrived. Considering we were one of only two tables in the restaurant it didnt make any sense and after an hour of waiting we gave up and asked for a refund. |It was just such a poor experience all round. Our plates were never cleared, no one checked to ask if our food was ok. Which I could forgive if they were slammed, but there was no one in. |Every time I go here there's something off, (from not having any milk for tea/coffee, them getting meat and veggie meals mixed up, ridiculous wait times for food, the list goes on) and I go back hoping for change. But I after this flop I...
