Nice town centre pub that I've been drink at for years.
This JD Wetherspoons pub has a large in door area so there's plenty of seating and a beer garden that's open until 10pm. Suitable for families during the day and afternoon.
The County has a wide range of beers and other alcoholic drinks, as well as a satisfactory food menu that's of an agreeable cost and quality. The are regular speciality nights such as Fish Friday and Curry Club which are well worth visiting for. The cost of drinks is reasonable, staff knowledgeable and service is a good pace at the bar. They could do with promoting more local beers & ales, but do promote craft beers.
I would highly recommend downloading the JD Wetherspoons app that allows you to order online. This can be a god send as the bar can get very busy. The app is easy to use and offers an excellent alternative as the table service is quick and polite, no matter how much or little you order. Any food ordered can feel like it gets to you suspiciously quickly, although I haven't got any complains about what's been presented to me so far.
The atmosphere of the place is pretty good and has very little trouble. Great place to meet and chat with friends. Open until...
Read moreA busy atmosphere and we all had an enjoyable afternoon. Although the bar was a hive of activity, I don't think that I waited more than a few minutes before I was served with drinks. The bar was open and well staffed, and I ordered the food from the bar with no hassle whatsoever. The County Hotel has an App for ordering food, but if the truth be told I much prefer to order and walk back and forth with the changes to individual meals. The simple task of ordering a start, Steaks or another, Jacket potato/or chips, with a ordering desserts can become a little bit of a juggling act and as enjoyable as an organised trip for 5. The staff are pleasant and relaxed, the atmosphere is enjoyable and relaxed and the food was excellent, it was a very good Saturday afternoon with great food (which I don't think that I have ever said about the J. D. Witherspoon empire. If you want to have a great meal for a great price, then please give it a go, and I would like to know your...
Read moreWith this restaurant, my friends and I visited to have a quick meal following a birthday party. However, upon arrived and ordering drinks we requested straws via the Wetherspoons App which is common practice. The waitress arrived to the table without so we politely asked if she could bring some to which she abruptly responded "They are at the bar". We responded with "Okay, no worries, thank you". To which, my friend walked up to the bar and overheard the woman talking negatively about us for wanting straws that we requested on the app. It seems the waitress noticed my colleagues face and was embarrassed so she sent her manager to handle delivering the rest of our drinks and meal.
In terms of the rest of the service received, we were thoroughly content and grateful to be approached with kindness and consideration from the manager who (btw) is stunning. For the one negative, you get four stars otherwise it would be a five for the standalone service received by...
