Appalled by the management! Myself and 3 friends recently had lunch here, it was a birthday celebration for two of them. We sat outside as the sun was out. Lunch menu was nice and simple, waiting staff were lovely, very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Some of them seemed quite new but the place had only been open 2 weeks. When we had JUST finished our main meal we got handed our bill and was told we needed to pay now as payment was upfront as we were sat outside. We were shocked by getting the bill at this stage so we spoke to the manager. We told him we were unhappy in how and when this was done and he said we should have paid when we ordered, he had just asked the staff if everyone had paid outside, they said no, so he told the staff to take the bills out. The staff had obviously not been trained properly as many people at other tables also had not been asked to pay upfront whilst sitting outside. The manager went on to explain that he was going to "DEAL" with the staff and especially young girl that took our order. We tried to explain that it wasn't her, she was good, but it was him (the manager) that needed to train his staff better and/or put a sign up so you can see it when you walk to the outside area, or maybe even order and pay at the bar. He said he was going to do all that... He also went on to say "that people have walked off without paying, but what do you expect; we are in Barnsley!" My mouth hit the floor!!! Could not believe he had just said that! He then went inside. The owner then came out, as he saw that we were very unhappy and we explained that the manager is useless. At this point the lovely young waitress that served us, had just been fired by the manager and was leaving, all because the payment hadn't been taken when she took our order. We called her back and asked the owner what was going on. He said she wasn't going anywhere as she has worked for him for 6 years. He explained she is good at her job and said he would sort it. The poor girl was devastated by all this and was in tears. I have since found out that they did still fire her. How awful... It's the manager that needs to go. He does not know how to deal with staff, customers or complaints and very unprofessional! I will...
