We have visited here quite regularly since it opened. Staying loyal to the OG despite a rival restaurant opening around the corner. It is now time to try the other place. Our visit last month was not to the usual and expected levels of service but we just put this down to being a busy and stressful Friday night. We tried again last night (a steady Thursday) and the experience was even worse. To be fair the salad bar was a delight as always but the rest of the meal was hard work. I'd like to comment on the numerous different meats on offer but unfortunately the limited sample we tried although tasty does not give a true reflection on the menu as a whole. We were a table for 2 sat down the wall. When we arrived there were a handful of other small tables in attendance. After a short while 3 six tops arrived and were seated in the middle. This resulted in the sides of the room being neglected either through blatantly not acknowledging we were dining and just skipping this section or due to each carver starting in the middle and running out before getting to the sides. After a while of being missed a few times and being offered the same rump joint on repeat we raised a concern with a team member. This proved to do the trick for a couple of passes but then dropped back and we just gave up. This paired with a lengthy wait with empty glasses really made the meal seem an expensive waste of time. We spoke with the duty manager when paying who said it was our responsibility to chase down the elusive staff to ensure we get the expected experience and that there is nothing she can do to help it's the bosses decision. We left shaking our heads at the lack of ownership of the situation. Time to...
Read moreMyself and my partner booked online via Groupon. Initially we were very pleased with the savings against their local rival which is based near to the train station. Upon our arrival we found a premise that was nicely enough decorated but not to our taste. Initially the staff were very attentive taking care of us and the two other groups in the resteraunt. Once the two other groups had left we were sat with our mats on green without food or drink service for atleast 30 minutes. Upon finally getting some service we were asked if we would like our plates clearing when we had only been eating for 20 minutes and the resteraunt was still open for another hour. It became apparent that the staff were cleaning up and were no longer interested in their one set of customers. Upon being told that we had in fact not finished, more food came however we were being watched to check to see if we had finished yet by the waitress and were again asked if we had. Whilst finishing our final bit of food at half an hour before closing we could hear sweeping above us from the floor upstairs and also rather loud laughing from the waitress and kitchen staff upstairs. If the service would have remained the same as it did whilst the other party's were present we would be returning however due to the service afterwards we will not. In our opinion the staff at this premise do not take the buissiness seriously. With the rival resteraunt nearby which has a far better location, atmosphere, service,.decor and food. Flavela will be short lived which is a shame. Point of the review, do not get a...
Read moreAfter an unexpected change of plans, my family and I found ourselves at Favela, a Brazilian restaurant where a variety of meats are brought to your table as long as your marker is set to green, offered a continuous culinary delight. As someone who has enjoyed this style of dining before, I was particularly impressed by the quality of the cooking at Favela. The beef, especially the rump and picanha cuts, were standout dishes for me, cooked to perfection with flavors that truly stood out.
The authenticity of the experience was heightened by the staff, who appeared genuinely Brazilian, adding an air of authenticity to the meal and clearly took pride in the cuisine they presented. The chicken thighs were another highlight, perfectly textured and flavored. The sirloin and lamb followed suit in excellence, leaving no room for disappointment.
While the salad bar was satisfactory, it was the meat that truly captured my attention, with its rich flavors and tender textures dominating the meal. A pleasant surprise towards the end was the cinnamon and sugar-coated pineapple slices, a delightful sweet treat that perfectly rounded off the meal.
Although the staff were noticeably busy, their friendliness and efficiency did not waver, contributing to a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Favela provided an exceptional dining experience that was both unexpected and thoroughly enjoyed. The combination of exquisite meats, authentic atmosphere, and friendly service has ensured that we will certainly be returning in the future....
