Had an absolutely awful experience with Monte Carlo tonight. My two friends and I are regulars at Monte Carlo and haven't had any problems before other than dressing on burgers when we asked for plain and no dressing when we asked for dressing. Tonight we ordered from Monte Carlo at 11pm through hungryhouse and got a text confirming the order. It said the estimated time of delivery was 12:34am which already we thought was a bit drastic compared to the length of time it usually takes. But we waited until 12:40am and didn't get a phone call or text so we called them asking what was happening with our order. Apparently they didn't receive our order, despite the confirmation text I received, and they asked did we want to order it again or just leave it. As we had been excited for the food for a couple of hours we decided we'd order again - what could go wrong? We were told they'd try to be as fast as they could with our order and they took my friend's phone number. We were appreciative and understanding at this stage. At 1:40am, stomachs rumbling we still had heard nothing from them so we called again. They said they had been and gone because we weren't answering the phone calls or texts. Turns out they had the wrong number. Surely the driver could have called Monte Carlo and checked the number at this stage? It's unlikely that we'll be returning. Read moreOrdered a delivery last night via deliveroo. Called to find out where it was. They said the delivery driver (the restaurant's, not deliveroo's) came already and knocked but there was no response. I was in the next room and didn't hear it. Fair enough, it can happen. But no call? He went home without calling which I thought was odd.
Anyways, called the next day to resolve this, thinkin they'd say sorry about that, we'll send your order out. The girl was nice enough, but definitely just wanted me off the phone. She said they can send the food out (great, appreciate this) but I'd have to pay an extra £4 to pay for the delivery. I asked her why the £4 since I didn't even receive a call. She said it's to cover the driver. I get that the driver needs to be paid but I thought that should be covered by the company, not me who wasn't at fault.
I just felt frustrated that they put £4 over customer service. If I mess up in the slightest in my business, I try to do everything possible to make the customer happy. Read moreI was due to catch a flight so I selected the chippy with the shortest delivery time on deliveroo, which happened to be Monte Carlo. Soon after the order confirmed the delivery time quadrupled. I phoned to see if they could expedite my order. They advised that they could not. With no other option I offered to collect the order which I had paid to have delivered. The man on the phone apologised and said that he would make sure to have the order waiting for me when I arrived.
It took me 15 minutes to drive to the chip shop from my house. When I arrived the place was in chaos. I promptly caught the attention of the server that I had spoken with on the phone and he said he would be with me shortly. To cut a long story short it was another 15 minutes before I received my food. I was panicking about missing my flight at this point.
At the time of ordering I asked for extra mayo. When I got the food home my chicken fillet burger barely had a drop of mayo on it. The chicken itself was burnt and unbelievably dry.
