AVOID! Worst pizza place ever. Went for a date night and was baffled at how half the staff are employed in hospitality given the customer service. To start with, we were seated and then the servers talked over us as if we weren’t there saying me and my partner couldn’t sit where we were asked to sit because it didn’t suit the other server. That was okay we overlooked that as we don’t complain and both work in hospitality so try and give benefit of the doubt. Then, upon ordering the server said in blunt tone ‘what do you want’, no question if we were ready to order… after we placed our order it took 25+mins to revive our food, when we actually got our dinner it was soggy pizza in the middle, the most bland tasting meal I have ever had, and stale tasting crust on the outside. Even salt didn’t add anything to it, it was THAT bland. My partners pizza was so drowned in oil it would seep onto the plate and leave residue in his mouth. During the whole time we had our food not once did a server come over to ask if everything was okay and constantly walked past us and nearly banging into our table as we were cramped in the corner of the restaurant up against a door, feeling as tho everyone was staring at us and not one server acknowledged us. To add to it, the staff were so unprofessional they sat down in the centre of the restaurant on the phone taking calls from their mates, glad to see you have time to take friendly phone calls but not ask how horrible your pizza you served was!! :\ it was the most unprofessional, disgusting service I have ever paid for and I would never return. I left the place within 50 mins, 25 of those spent waiting on the food and after eating 3 bland slices of ‘pizza’ (more just chewy stale dough with sauce), I had to leave, I was running out of the place. Don’t waste time or money here folks unless you enjoy awful service, unprofessionalism, inconsistency in service as they asked the table next to us how their food was and if they wanted a box for left overs and didn’t acknowledge us at all unless to squish past us while giving dirty looks. And awful food, wish I could have my...
Read moreWe were looking to find a nice place to eat. Pizza on the square, definitely has an appeal and is well presented. A great location, right opposite the Belfast City Hall. We booked a table via phone and managed to get a reservation straight away. We’ve made the fatal mistake of following google reviews with thousands of reviews and having a poor experience, Pizza on the square is fairly new with not many reviews. Upon arrival we got a warm welcome from all staff. Its an open kitchen which is fab! We got given the menus. The service was very good, they didn’t leave you to sit for ages. We also had arrived early and they catered for us, pretty much straight away. The menu choices are fantastic, some great choices. We altered our toppings on our pizza, slightly, and the chefs accommodated the change. The cocktails were also beautiful complimenting the food very well. The Pizza are very reasonably sized, quite big I’d say, which is great! The taste was absolutely Beautiful! A great meal, great food, great experience, great service, great drinks but… Although Pizza on the square is a great place, I’d highly recommend it, I’d say the Pizzas are just slightly overpriced. Our Bill came to £50, for 2 pizzas and 2 drinks, I’d say that’s quite steep. If your looking for a nice meal Pizza on the square is great, however for the equivalent you could eat at an alternative with much more food. The experience is what matters and ‘Pizza on the square’ did not fail to deliver. In summary, a great choice, but slightly pricey for what you get. Thank you for the...
Read moreArrived early for our booking however was able to be seated right away. Restaurant was busy but not really loud which helped make the atmosphere all that better. Beautiful view of the square and a great tourist spot as well.
Pizza was some of the best I have had, it was flavourful and delicious. Well cooked and seasoned Although the size was absolutely massive, smaller would have been a bit better to reduce waste.
The starter was a bit of a disappointment as it was very 'premade' brie triangles in bread crumbs tasted very much like the party food out of a freezer, meatballs were a little bit grizzly as well but the marinara was beautifully seasoned.
The only downside of the experience, I had told them in advance it was my child's birthday and they brought out a lovely mocktail for them thinking it was on the house, only to find out we had been charged £10 for it.
Staff attentive and friendly enough and left us alone to eat and weren't over baring which was lovely and appreciated, for a peaceful dining experience.
The decor is also absolutely beautiful, if we return to Belfast for a period of time we would definitely...
