Very wide choice, nice staff, wide cold cuts selection and cheeses, good pasta (Rummo is an excellent quality).Wide olive oil options.Must say was a bit disappointed by a lots of products missing the price label. The cold cuts I have been choosing was already packed Levoni parma ham as the one on the counter was at the end(so it should be on offer as the oxidation lowers the quality and give a bit of that metallic taste) the new parma ham peace I was asking for, could not be cut properly...(don't know why but this is what I was told). This shopping was about 70£ (the parma ham was already eaten so it's not in the pic. ) and I don't cosider it too expensive for the tipe of imported goods. The Grana Padano I have been given was defenetly not aged enough and had a quite different flavour from what is supposed to taste and smell, if I choose a dely is to have a better option than M&S or Woolworths. Very good pesto at the counter. I am italian, born and raised in Italy, resident in London and just came here in Belfast for a while to work, so I defenetly know whether an italian product is worted or not. The recipt states only "grocery", would be helpful to know how much have i paid for each product. Summary: good for packed products, for the cold cuts counter I will be back again and see if the first time was...
Read moreAn essential Belfast experience and a food lover's paradise! I’d heard so many people rave about Sawers, and it truly lives up to its reputation as a Belfast institution. From the moment you step inside, it feels like you’ve discovered a treasure trove. The shelves are packed floor-to-ceiling with an incredible array of specialty foods, from local Irish chutneys and crackers to international oils, spices, and cheeses. The atmosphere is bustling and has a wonderful, traditional charm that feels both historic and authentic. The real highlight, as many will tell you, is the deli counter. I opted for one of their famous made-to-order sandwiches and was blown away by the quality and the generous portions. The staff, despite being incredibly busy, were masters of their craft—efficient, friendly, and happy to offer recommendations from the vast selection of fresh meats, cheeses, and fillings. It’s easy to see why it’s a go-to lunch spot for so many locals. Whether you're popping in for a quick, delicious sandwich or Browse for some unique gourmet ingredients to take home, Sawers is an absolute must-visit. It’s more than just a deli; it’s a genuine piece of Belfast heritage. I went in for one thing and left with a bag full of delicious treats. I can't...
Read moreGood range of world groceries, but the main issue with Sawers is that they hike the prices of products up significantly. I will only buy there when I don’t have the time to order online (i.e. I want a particular product for dinner that night). Most of their spicy products and hot sauces are from Hot Headz and Mex Grocer and are about double the price instore! The situation is even worse for products like the Santa Maria range of Mexican seasonings where they are about 3 to 4 times the supermarket price! Same goes for the Street Kitchen range. The prices are very off putting and the store would likely sell a lot more stock if they removed the premium pricing policy. They seem to think that locals are not savvy when it comes to world and premium groceries and don’t realise that everything is overpriced, but they perhaps don’t realise how much business they are losing by pushing their prices too high. When all is said and done though, it is still very handy when you know what you are looking for and need the product ASAP rather than waiting for it to be delivered. You pay a hefty premium for that...
