Big John's Soho Road — Restaurant in Birmingham

Terrible experience. Orders through Deliveroo. Delivery first went to wrong house but luckily I caught the driver before he gave it to them but that’s not the restaurants fault. Then open the food which took very long to come. Packaged well, start with chips, no salt or vinegar as requested, no condiments or anything. Chips were hard but they were warm. Unfortunately a few very tasteless chips in, I find a long curly hair wrapped around 2 chips 🤢

I gave up there, my mum was very hungry and checked the chicken she ordered and it seems like there were no hairs so she tried it and said it was okay but she wasn’t brave enough to try to eat it all and was put off by the hair. For the price Big Johns charges, it’s quality and taste is just not very good and nowhere near what you’d get at a proper local Chippy. Haven’t had it in years but thought I’d give it a go after so long as it is a ‘household name’ now. Big mistake and one I won’t be making again...

I enjoy a kebab or pizza from big johns and it’s usually OK. They always provide cutlery and serviettes and are usually polite and fast with the occasional case of inconsistent standards or overlooked quality control (nothing serious) i.e. excess oil; but yesterday around 12pm I had an unusual experience that has left me with a bad stomach. I now realise it was probably due to the salad in my meal not being washed as it still contained dirt in the lettuces crevices. Not thinking too much I threw away the remaining salad that I hadn’t eaten but being halfway through my meal it seems the few I did eat may have contributed to my symptoms, something similar to gastroenteritis. I will try to analyse food hygiene practices next visit until then I will avoid this branch. Definitely dented my confidence eating...

Two of the main items missing. I call the restaurant, it took 15 minutes of talking for my two pittas to be redelivered and they said 20 minutes for it to be redelivered, it arrived all mushy and with not what we ordered. Then I complained to Just Eats and they wanted to refund me £19(the only option available if you wanted to complain). I get a call at 7pm from their head quarters from a man yelling at me, and not even trying to talk to me nicely, claiming that I had refunded the whole meal and that it was my fault that it got delivered “twice”. The driver was nice but their headquarter staff are absolutely mean. Bad food and bad staff. Don’t order from here unless you want to get shouted at by...
