I booked a last minute eye-makeup appointment for my 40th birthday party at MJ beauty studio and Acadamy, and I must say, I was very impressed with Meera and her colleague who made me feel very welcome. For a very reasonable price, not only did Meera do my eye makeup but she also filled in my brows and applied lashes too. I’ve had eye makeup done before, from other places, but was always told to bring my own lashes so I took some with me, but Meera was kind enough to use her own. Which was definitely a plus and something I wasn’t expecting so I was pleasantly surprised! Meera made me feel very comfortable and kept asking if I wanted more or less of what she was doing so for example, I had a gold eye shadow applied and she asked me if I wanted it more brighter I said yes and she completed the look accordingly. It’s difficult to come across beauticians these days who ask for your input and constantly reassure you, but Meera genuinely wants to see her clients happy, you can see that, in the questions she asks you making sure you’re happy with your look every step of the way. So, I recently checked out MJ Salon on Soho Road in Birmingham, and I wanted to share my experience. It's a bit of a hidden gem, tucked away inside Kanda Jewellery – yes, you read that right, It's in a unit within the store, but don't let that fool you. The salon itself is surprisingly bright and pretty, with a really welcoming vibe. What really stood out was how lovely the owner and beauty therapist are. It was my first time there, and she made me feel super comfortable right away. Honestly, it was like catching up with a friend. She even noticed I was a little chilly and brought over a fluffy blanket and turned on the heater! Talk about going the extra mile. While I was there, I noticed other customers coming in, and it was clear they were regulars. The atmosphere was so relaxed and friendly that it felt more like a social visit than just a beauty appointment. Everyone seemed really at ease, which speaks volumes. Overall, I couldn't fault the service. The beautician was clearly experienced and friendly, and the whole experience was just exceptional. Lovely experience! We came into the shop and asked about the price for a mendhi design. She explained everything clearly — simple straight-line patterns were £7–8, and a more detailed, basic design was £10. Even though she had somewhere important to be, she kindly offered to do our designs first since they were quick 15-minute jobs.
