So I went to karak chai thought take food home later to open my fast with to be told as I have a nut allergy, I canāt be served food. As the health inspector has advised the staff of karak chai to not serve food to anyone with food allergiesā¦. This is the first time Iāve gone to a restaurant or anywhere in the hospitality sector to be told I canāt be served food as food is prepared in a kitchen were nuts are handled but staff was ok to serve me tea from the same kitchen were nuts are handled and still served me a kebab roll when I advised it was for my sister rather than myself. How does this make sense? This was disgusting as well as discrimination. I have never felt so victimised and penalised against my allergy that I was born with. My allergy is not airborne which I advised the staff member. However they was no written notice that advise people with allergies are not to be served food. Customers were listening this, and watched me as my sister was waiting for her food. Food allergies is not something I would not wish on anyone but to be victimised in front of staff who were training on the job as well as customers. I ate at a restaurant on Saturday night and wasnāt told I canāt be served food as I have a food allergy, rather advised of what contains nuts and what is safe to eat. But for a member of staff from karak chai to advise customers with food allergies they cant be served , would they advise people in a wheelchair they canāt be served as their in a wheelchair or customers who may be diabetic and need to eat they canāt be served as their diabeticā¦. Itās the year 2025 the world is changing but no restaurants advise this, people of food allergies are not to be served I have photographic evidence that does not state people with food allergies are not to be served. It advises they canāt guarantee food wonāt be handled in an environment without food allergies and refer to the government guidelines but doesnāt advise nor state people who suffer from food allergies canāt be served⦠I have never left a restaurant feeling disgusted and humiliated in front of so...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMe and my sister visited on Saturday, there was a young lady looked in her young 20s, not very approachable, no signs of good customer service, no smile, looked like she didnāt want to be there. My sister ordered the masala omelette sandwich and specified she wanted āno chilliesā. Sandwich came with chillies so my sister took it back to the same waitress and her response was ācanāt you just eat the chilliesā which was shocking & a terrible unprofessional response, she stood there saying to my sister āI heard you say cheeseā my sister said no I said chillis and the rude waitress repeatedly said ābut I heard you say cheeseā clearly this waitress wanted a confrontation which my sister resulted to say āforget itā the waitress didnāt even bother to offer a solution. Luckily the food was very nice but my sister sat there picking out the chillies and still found it spicy which was quite sad really. Then I visited again with my mom, we sat down down, looked at the menu and just as we wanted to order, the waiter put his coat on leaving the shop, he said to us āI'm going to the shop be right backā I said āis there no one to serve us thenā he replied āno but Iāll be back in a minuteā again I was baffled me and mom sat there and laughed at the appalling service, even other customers wanted to know what he said & even they were shocked and laughed with us. The staff need customer service training massively they have no duty of care towards the customers at all. They have no idea how to be professional they just know how to act for themselves which is quite immature, either provide the training or hire older staff with more experience. I will continue to come back as the food is surprisingly nice, it just would be nice if we had the nice service to go with it. Just to add also there was no handle on the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWarning to those with allergies! My mom has a severe egg allergy and asked if the food she ordered contained any egg, she was told it doesn't. She double checked and was given the same answer so confidently but not long after eating the paratha with mint yogurt, she started feeling all the symptoms of an allergic reaction. I went and asked someone else and she also said the paratha and yogurt contained no egg but said she can go in the back and double check if I wanted her to, I said yes. She came back within a minute and said "it contains egg powder". I went back to check on my mom who at this point is throwing up in the bathroom due to the allergic reaction. Before we left my mom asked to speak to the manager but was told he's not there so then asked to speak with the lady who served her, instead of apologising, she started saying "well I don't work in the kitchen, I don't make the food so I didn't know" and when I said that allergies can lead to sever reactions like with my mom, or worse it can lead to death, she said "I know, I've seen that on the news" absolutely disgusting behaviour in my opinion and little remorse for her negligence. The staff were more worried about whether an ambulance would have to be called outside their business than they were about my mom's wellbeing!
General attitude to the allergic reaction was shocking and heard the lady who served my mom telling (more like screaming) others in the kitchen about what I had said about her awful attitude.
For the rest of us the food was okay at best!
For my mom, she's been suffering since the incident from severe stomach pains from the vomiting and diarrhoea, which has...
