I visited Amritsari Tarka again after around 3 months, as I had a great experience last time. I even made a detour on my way back home to London, went through Birmingham city traffic for almost an hour just to eat here again — but sadly, it wasn’t worth it this time.
The restaurant wasn’t busy when I arrived, but it started going downhill from the start. I ordered a Chinese starter — it was super greasy, tasteless, and low in quantity. I even had to wipe all the cutlery myself before using it. Not a great sign.
For mains, they didn’t even have Paneer Tikka Masala, which is one of the most popular dishes. Still, I waited 20 minutes for what I did order, and we were already tired after a long day at the water park.
The naan came out brown, clearly made with gehu atta instead of the usual maida — it looked and tasted cheap, like corners were being cut to save money.
The Paneer Bhurji had no salt — texture was fine, but flavourless. The Shahi Paneer was the worst part: just sweet tomato gravy with cream and random paneer cubes — no real flavour, no depth. I barely touched it.
Only thing I liked was the achar (pickle) — that had more flavour than the actual mains. I ended up packing the food and gave it to someone in need outside, because I didn’t want to waste it.
Overall: • Food quality has dropped significantly • Taste was below average • Quantity was poor • Feels like cost-cutting is the priority now • Would not recommend or...
Read moreThe food was very nice. The service was so bad on a Friday evening. The girls were running like headless chickens. It was so busy and only 3 of them were doing everything. The owner should employ more people to keep the inside controlled. We ordered Soya biriyani got chicken biriyani(luckily we were not strict vegetarian) so just sent it back to change after a bite without making any fuss. We also ordered 2 thali with 4 different veg dishes (apart from chicken curry) we ended up given 2 thalis with dal makani and motor paneer. One thali should have had mix veg and chana masala. After the biriyani situation we felt a bit uncomfortable to change it again. It would also take time to cook. However the food was very delicious apart from that soya biriyani (I didn’t like soya). Would highly recommend the aloo paratha and...
Read moreWe had an incredible experience at Amritsari Kulcha, and a big part of that was thanks to Sheetall. Her service was absolutely top-notch from start to finish. She was warm, attentive, and genuinely caring. She came to our table several times to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. She even brought us our food personally and with a smile every single time. You could tell she truly cared about making our visit special. And the food? Absolutely delicious — fresh, flavorful, and just the perfect taste of Amritsar! The kulchas were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, paired with mouthwatering chole and chutneys. Sheetall’s kindness and dedication really elevated our dining experience. Highly recommend visiting — and if you’re lucky enough to be served by her, you’re in...
